Something Rotten ?

Quick question... I'm looking to bring a group of students to NYC in October. We're already set up to see Aladdin and I'm looking for a second show. A couple students have begged for it to be Something Rotten.

Is there any chance in your mind that Rotten will close before then? I know they're selling through January and that's what they tell me if I call but I thought I'd check the unofficial opinion. Seems like end of summer or end of the calendar year are likely closing times. Do you think it'll hang out until at least January?

Thanks in advance!!

Honestly, I think you have a 50/50 chance.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

What are your other options?

I think it's a wonderful show and the kids sure would have a great time, it's hilarious.

Right now I would say it's still doing ok and there are a few other shows I'm more worried about. Gut feeling it will last through January, but I have nothing to base that on.

Anybody know what their weekly nut is?

The theatre is closing January,  with a whole new principle cast announced, I'm thinking they'll last til then. The weekly sales are arent great, but are consistent. Maybe it'll see a bump through the summer months to keep it alive until then.... I sure hope so

Thank you everyone! I think I'm going to take my chances with Something Rotten and hopefully will be able to get tickets to something like School of Rock if Rotten does close at the end of the summer.

Just be sure to book a date where both are playing in case they need to swap. I think School of Rock is dark on Thursdays in the fall.

Are you going thru a travel agent or booking on your own?

Matilda might also be a back-up option. It's not as new as SoR so it might be easier to get tickets to "last-minute" in case SR does close. It's also a very good show and I personally liked it more than SoR.

Too bad you're coming too early for Dear Evan Hansen!
