Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Ms. Pitre a bit...long in the tooth for this? Or have they somewhat altered the story?

Yes. I was thinking the same thing.
Hmmm...I should go see this. Wonder if I can manage cheap tickets somehow.

I think she's way too old for the role, too.
I saw her last year (I think?) doing Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, she was more suited for that.
How was her Lovett? I can't quite imagine it.
I saw also that she did Annie Get Your Gun semi-recently. Of course Ms. Peters did the role not *that* long ago, and I figure they're comparable in age (tho I may be wrong), but Ms. Pitre seems to old for that as well...or more importantly, *looks* too old for it.
Maybe I'm wrong for thinking this way, but I have a problem with big productions like these casting actors who are not remotely age-appropriate (or can look age-appropriate) for roles.
She was good doing Mrs. Lovett... of course, I've never seen Sweeney before, so I can't really compare, but I thought the role let her show her acting skills, much better than Mamma Mia, for example.
Keep in mind her Annie Get Your Gun was a concert version...so it was more about the voice than anything.

I saw that concert when I was visiting Toronto, and I think Billy Ray Cyrus was her leading man. She was in full costume, and she still looked rather old for the role. During MOONSHINE LULLABY, it looked like a grandmother singing to her grand kids.

Marti Webb reprised her role in London and on the UK tour the other year and she is waaaaaay longer in the tooth!
It worked sorta. Well not really but those that wanted to see her return to the show that was written for her twenty years later lapped it up. That and the old folk in the provinces didnt seem to mind lol
While I agree she(Pitre) is a tad over the proposed age range of the part I cheerfully admit to mostly wanting to see Evelyn Hart & Rex Harrington. Both have epitiomised true artistry in dancing for me for years and I really want to see what these two can do (esp together) as they enter this later stageof their careers.
Well....even if she is somewhat older than the part requires, her vocal and acting chops will certainly make the experience worthwhile! She is one heck of a performer, I can tell you that.
VERY upsetting news that Rex Harrington has injured his achilles on the opening night and is seeing doctors. There is a substitute but JEEZ! A whole ballet career and its a Bway show that does him in! NO PLEEEEEZZZE!
