Wicked- Something bad, and the wizard songs (to add to the general consensis)

Rocky Horror Show- I Can Make You A Man (I just never liked the song, in either the movie or the show's soundtrack)

Hair- Oh that one song that goes something about being radioactive and somewhere in there it goes "...spark, i glow in the dark". Yeah, dont like that one.

Joseph- Benjamin Calypso. I hate that song.

Well, this could keep going, but thats enough for now.

ElvenPrincess, the song is "Air"

Q: "School for Monsters/Money Song reprise" Can't stand Trekkie's part.
Cabaret: "So What?" Just....no.
The Producers: "In Old Barvaria"
Chess: The Hymn
AIDA: Guess what? "Another Pyramid"
YAGMCB: "Moonlight Sonata" There's only so much Ilana Levine I can take
Jekyll and Hyde: "Murder Murder" The lyrics grate on my skull
Phantom: "Point of No Return" LOVED it in the movie, HATED in on the CD
Millie: "They Don't Know"
Wicked: Does anyone NOT know? "Something Bad" and the Wizard's songs
"I am special, I am special! Please, God, please, don't let me be normal!" ---Louisa, The Fantasticks

"So What?" in Cabaret
I don't hate it, but my least favourite song in AIDA is "How I Know You."
A work of art is an invitation to love.

re: Songs We Hate In Scores We Love

I will avoid all songs already mentioned for the obvious reasons.

"Into The Woods", I always skip over "I Know Things Now". Little Red has always annoyed me.

Avenue Q - "Special" - For a character like Lucy T. Slut, I would've prefered something more over the top.

Urban, I totally agree with you about "Special."

When I listen to Evita, I find myself skipping over every other song, or so it seems. Most of the conversational stuff...anything to get to 'High Flying, Adored' sooner.

"The Nutcracker Ballet": Millie
The many reprises of Once Upon A Time- Brooklyn (the first time... its good but the second or third... Uh no thanks)
Something New Again (Reprise): BOZ- was
Prolouge/The Enchantress n Entr'acte/Wolf Chase: Beauty and The Beast--- boring!
"Cooties"- Hairspray, a waste of a song!
"Sentimental Man"- Wicked, its just so bad! He gets better in Wonderful which I love to sing...

Not that I love the whole score...but "Quiet" (from Mattress) bugs the HECK outta me.

re: Songs We Hate In Scores We Love

It's easier to skip tracks now on CD. When we had Lp's it was awkward and there was always a risk of scratching the record.

A few of mine....

CABARET (orig 1966 B'way cast) - I usually skip "Why Should I Wake Up." It's a dull song and was cut from most subsequent productions. (I would NEVER skip "So What" - a great character song, esp as sung by Lotte Lenya.)

GOODBYE GIRL "Too Good to be Bad" - unlike most of the other songs that does nothing for the plot and it's not a great song either.

MAME - I always skip "St Bridgett" and go from the Overture right to "It's Today."

NINE - "The Germans at the Spa" - and again it was cut from the revival.

Also on BELLS ARE RINGING I drop "Salzburg" and "Midas Touch" and re-program the ad for Susanswerphone (Track 2, "Bells are Ringing") to come at the end as a finale since there isn't one on the disc.

I also frequently correct the running orders on CD to correspond to what happens in teh show. Anyone else do this too?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Into the Woods DVD- "Stay with Me" and "Last Midnight", I'm sorry but I hate Peters's rendition of those songs.

Phantom of the Opera- "Masquerade" and "Prima Donna"

Wicked- "Something Bad" ugh...

"I've got to get me out of here This place is full of dirty old men And the navigators and their mappy maps And moldy heads and pissing on sugar cubes While you stare at your books."

nine- bells of st. sebastian, ti volio bene, nine
damn yankees- a man doesn't know
rent- light my candle, goodbye love, your eyes
wicked- something bad (i actually LIKE the wizard's songs)
hairspray- good morning baltimore(reprise)
chicago- a little bit of good (learning to love it while rehearsing for billy flynn [3 minute break woo hoo])

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

OMG I love the way Peters sings Last Midnight, so powerful. A song I sometimes skip is Tender Shepard from Peter Pan...it gets so old.

The Dog "Woof" song in SUNDAY IN THE PARK W/ GEORGE. I can't bring myself to listen to the whole thing. Its just too long, wierd and boring. I absolutley worship the rest of the show, though.
