How many of us have Bway cds that we love that contain one or two songs that are just god awful and cause us to hit the fast forward/skip button?

Wicked - Something Bad & Wonderful
Hello Dolly OBC - anything with Charles Nelson Reilly
Aida - Another Pyramid
Hairspray - Hairspray

I know I have more but figured I'd get this started.

Sing from A Chorus Line

It doesn't even make sense. How did she get to the final audition if she couldn't sing?

Wicked: anything sung by the Wizard ("I am a sentimental man --" CLICK!).
Promises, Promises: "A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing"
Aida: "Another Pyramid"
Miss Saigon: "The American Dream"
Chess: whatever that song is that the press sing, "Oh my dear how borING, he's defectING..." Never listen to it, so I can't remember the name. And of course, like much of Chess, it's not in every version. :)

aw I love The American Dream... I guess the song I always skip in Wicked is Something Bad as well and The Morning Report and Chow Down in The Lion King, why did they put Morning Report in the movie?!?! Grrr!

^^ My biggest problem with "The American Dream" at this point is one of resentment. It's not that the song is THAT bad, but it's the song that's ALWAYS used when showing clips or numbers from Miss Saigon, and I just think it's so not representative of the show's score. I guess I'm just really tired of it.

In Aida, I always skip "Like Father, Like Son". Those first few cords annoy the heck of me!

^^ Yes, that's it, thank you! (I knew the word "Lament" was in there somewhere.)

"Ragtime" - 'What Kind of Woman'. The show's only dispensable song.

I also despise that Cooties song from Hairspray...so annoying. I also hate Baltimore Crabs.

"Sing from A Chorus Line"

What? That's like the best song in the show. Haha i think it's funny. And it was only a dance audition up to that point.

Although maybe it's only my favourite song because I played Al once.

Rent: We're Okay, I Should Tell You

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

"And it was only a dance audition up to that point."

I just always assumed that they would also understudy the main roles which would require them to sing.

Little_Sally, I can't believe you don't like I Should Tell You! I wish Jonathan would have expanded that song a little more and added a little more substance, but I love it ..."walking through fire without a burn..." Updated On: 3/4/05 at 01:30 PM

^^I like I Should Tell You also but I think the song I usually skip in rent is Today 4 You Tommorow 4 Me, not that it's horrible or anything I just find it kind of annoying.

The song I wish he had expanded was Came To Say Goodbye Love, Goodbye

I also usually skip over Today 4 U on the RENT cast recording. I love seeing the song performed on stage, but it annoys the crap out of me when I'm just sitting at home listening to it on my headphones.

wow you guys are like my soulmates. everything you have said is so true! i hate "baltimore crabs" and "cooties"! those first few chords of "like father like son" kill me. and anything sung by the wizard sucks.

this is random, but i always skip "those caanan days" from joseph.

me too! its not that "Caanan Days" is a bad song it's funny to watch, but it's kind of boring to hear it after listening to that soundtrack too much

I LOVE Those Canaan Days...It's one of my favourite songs from that score!

I don't hate any Sondheim, and most of what I listen to is Sondheim...so I don't really skip anything.

I can't think of a Sondheim song I don't like either.

There is always some brilliant aspect about them, usually the lyrics, that mean I can't help but enjoy...

I'm a sucker for intellegence, so I'm a sucker for Sondheim!

We're Okay-Rent
The More You Ruv Someone-Avenue Q (I don't hate it..I just really never feel like listening to it)
Ride 'Em-Zanna Don't

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
