wow, I really want to see this now. But no footage of Paul Szot singing?! Oh well, congrats to the cast!
The NYT Review has a blurb on the side of the screen, "Audio Slideshow" -- Paulo discusses his work with the show, how proud of it he is, etc., etc. Also, there ARE clips of him sinsing (b-e-a-utifully) from teh score - along with some stunning shots of the set(s) and cast dong their 'thang'!
Thanks for that! He sounds great:) I envy everyone who get to see this live.
Then surely, you're despise me. Haha!
I have 2nd row center for August 19. No hate.
Let's share the R&H Lovin'!
Kelli is just lovely.
I'm really excited to see this and Kelli's concert at Joe's Pub!

Wow, this show looks amazing. It is superb how they have created the settings, they look SO real.
And I agree with you Wanna Be A Foster, Kelli is just divine. She is so beautiful and has the most amazingly pure voice.
It isn't one of my favourite shows, but I would love to see this production.
How... is Morrison singing "Carefully Taught" and not making it sound didactic? That has to be one of the most perfect renderings of the song I've heard.
I didn't think he sounded especially good.

"As a surviving member of that great NY cast of SOUTH PACIFIC and in reverent memory of Mary Martin, Enzio Pinza, Bill Tabbert, Myron McCormick, Juanita Hall, Martin Wolfson Dort Clark and about 20 others who have passed on, I am delighted to read that the director, who was not even born when we did the show at the Majestic, GOT IT RIGHT! This is sacred ground for many of us, and we surviving members of that blessed cast hope to be able to see this production. There is talk of our having a reunion and to see the show in the Fall. I hope it materializes. We all came back to NYC for our 50th reunion. This would be close to a 60th! I don't think there was ever a cast as much together as this bunch of very normal but talented people. Peter Kelley (understudy to Lt. Cable 1950-52)"
This was posted in the Readers' reviews section of the NYTimes. I'd love a follow-up if their reunion takes place.

He's using a classical technique called legato.

If you scroll down there is extra archival audios of composer Richard Rodgers, star Mary Martin and cast member Don Fellows (a Merchant Marine veteran) reflect on the show's development.
Enjoy!
That interview with Loretta Ables Sayre is inspiring!
I hope she gets a Tony Nomination next month!
