South Pacific Tickets?
South Pacific Tickets?#1
Posted: 8/18/08 at 10:42pmIt seems getting tickets to this show is just utterly impossible! I looked for tickets in July and it said they were sold out through Sept. Now I look again for November and they're sold out till December! Can anyone suggest a way to somehow get tickets to the show? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Posted: 8/18/08 at 10:47pmPlan that far ahead. On Friday I went to the box office and got tickets for November. He told me Saturdays and Sundays were sold out til January and Fridays were sold out til December, so I ended up getting tickets for a Wednesday evening. If you can go Tues/Wed, there must be decent seats left this year. Maybe try the box office in person like I did, if you've only been looking online so far.

Unfortunately I'll only be in NYC during the weekend. Maybe I can convince my dad to let us go one day earlier. Hmmm... But thank you!!!!!

I bought my tickets in April to see the show in August. I saw it last week and it was amazing! Maybe try calling the box office? Just a thought. Good luck, and I hope you get to see the show.
Also, you could look into those $20 tickets they offer for students, if you are a student.

Posted: 8/18/08 at 10:58pmIf you have some time you can also attempt the cancellation line. The only problem with that is, the more people in your group, the harder to get tickets.

Well my dad doesn't want to see it (don't ask me why. the only shows he likes are, say it all together now, Les Miz, Miss Saigon, Phantom etc.) so thats just me, my sister and my mom. I'll try calling the box office. Thank you so much!

If you can manage to wait for a couple hours, then I would recommend the cancellation line, as others have previously stated. You do have to be at the theater and when I was there, there were groups of three that got tickets that way.
studentix is closed at this point (there is a waitlist though but it probably won't be opened again for a while), and it actually wouldn't apply to your mother, because she isn't a student.
It's definitely worth the wait~! I hope you can see it.

Well, you should tell your dad he needs to see one of the classic American musicals that made shows like Phantom, Les Miz and Miss Saigon possible. In fact, Andrew Lloyd Webber has said that SOUTH PACIFIC was the greatest influence on him and the show that made him want to write musicals in the first place.
Also, tell your dad that I took my 6-year-old and 12-year-old to see it because I felt it was a necessary part of their musical theatre education, secretly worrying that they would be a tad bored. Well, they LOVED iot so much that they are lobbying me to take them to see it AGAIN!
Persuade your dad that he needs to see this show (which is beyond magnificent, imo). If all else fails, GUILT him into it!!!

Definitely agree with that. It is a timeless classic of Rodger's and Hammerstein. And the first Broadway revival since the original cast with Martin and Gaynor in 1949. Considering the types of shows your dad tends to like, this show fits in line with those shows. Very classically-driven and appreciated by all ages.
Also, right now the majority of the revival cast is in place, all of the main leads. If you get the chance to, you should see it before Paolo leaves November 30th and some of the other leads may leave January 4th. If possible, the revival cast is great~!

Posted: 8/19/08 at 12:58amI ordered a ticket at the end of June/beginning of July for this past Saturday. It was just a single ticket but that would give you a sense of how hard they are to come by.

Well, thanks to this thread, I finally went online and bought four tickets to see the show again right before Paulo leaves! It was nearly impossible to find 4 tickets to any performance over the Thanksgiving holiday, but I lucked out and we're going on Wednesday, November 26. I hope my children appreciate this!!!
Again, thank you for starting this thread and making me realize that seeing this production again is a MUST!

Posted: 8/20/08 at 3:46pmWe're planning a trip for early November. I noticed that I could get 2 tickets for a Thursday night, but they were ALL THE WAY in the last row, far house left and house right. Hoping that by the time we actually book our flights the tickets are still available. I'm really scared they won't be and I REALLY want to see this, too.
re: South Pacific Tickets?#14
Posted: 8/20/08 at 3:52pmI walked up to the box office last Thursday at about 2:00 and got a single ticket fifth row center for Friday. Waiting for house seats to be released is STILL the best way to get last minute seats (and great seats) to all Broadway shows.

I can only be in town from October 8 through 13, and I desperately wanted to see the show. I waited too late to finalize my plans, and I could nto get my ticket through the box office or Telecharge. I was forced to go through a broker and paid through the nose for my one little ticket. The good news is I have it in hand, and I will be seeing it on Friday, October 10. I'm so excited and no one need ever know (i.e. my dh) what I was willing to pay for a show ticket.
Plus, it's already in my possession in my fire proof safe!

Hanna, I doubt those seats will be available for long. Seriously.
I love waiting and getting house seats, but when you A) are from out-of-town B) need FOUR that have to be together AND C) you're going over the Thanksgiving holiday, waiting is really not a good option!

If you're willing to pay a premium, why not use Broadway Care's CareTix or Actor's Fund FundTix programs? It doubles the price of the ticket (it would be $250 each since seats are $125 normally), but they are always house seats...pretty fabulous, and you'd be helping two of the worthiest charities with a sizable tax-deductible donation (everything above the face value of the tickets.) They usually have seats to all the sold-out hits.

There is also the Damon Runyon Foundation' s double-the-price program.
I have donated to all three in the past and gotten EXCELLENT seats!

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll ask here.
How are the Row E, 501-507 in the loge, all the way in the back? They are the only seats I could find. Any help is appreciated!!!
re: South Pacific Tickets?#21
Posted: 8/20/08 at 10:19pmBroadway.com sells orchestra seats for $156 which is the best i could find on any of the other sites (like stubhub or those kinds).

But I'm working on getting my aunt to take me in December. I'll let y'all know. Crossies!!!!!
