Unfortunately, when theaters go bankrupt, subscribers are often (more likely than not) the last to get their money back, if ever at all. Banks and major creditors get their money first, pretty much making the subscriber take the short end of the stick. It's sad, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

qolbinau: The Wicked reference isn't in the Cast Recording because in the actual show, it isn't heard until the Encore/Playoff of "What's Up Duloc?" The cast recording omits the encore, though they used the encore ending for the Tonys.

Nope. Shows would need to start selling additional performances way in advance. You would have known something by now. Spring Break is not a special schedule week for Broadway -- like Christmas or Thanksgiving weeks. Especially since Spring Breaks are observed by different schools at different times -- falling any time during Lent. Everyone's typical 8-show week schedules are still in place.

They pulled the names outside the night I went. Although the names were 'taken' in the lobby, they did pull them in front of our eyes under the marquee.

Last night was a delightful evening of theatre. I agree about the chemistry of the actors on stage. Angela Lansbury was a treat. She was a little tentative - repeating/paraphrasing lines, but she's well on her way. She's a septuagenarian leading lady (long retired from the stage) back on the boards after only her second public performance. I was happy to look past her slight awkwardness because of her determination, passion, and go-get-'em vim. This show was like eating a big box of bon-bons,...

haha, no.

The Blu-Ray version of RENT is stunning. I have it hooked up to my 50" plasma with 5.1 surround sound using all digital connections. The color, sharpness, and clarity is amazing. You can see the tiny hairs on the backs of cast member's hands, not to mention the picture stays in focus even with quick camera moves! If you already own a 1080p TV, look for a deal on a Blu-Ray player (mine came free with my TV) and get this one on Blu-Ray.

Pianolin717 is right...it usually has to do with contracts being finalized. But another layer to this onion probably is... Jennyish: The rolling out of cast members throughout the week puts HAIR in multiple news cycles this week, rather than one press release announcing everyone (and likely one day's worth of HAIR coverage.) It's a classic marketing technique, annoying as it may be.

Best of luck with that one. The souvenir shops in Times Square have never been known for values. Like the merchandisers in the theatres themselves, the tourist shops mark up, mark up, mark up. Occasionally you'll find a value...but these shops have astronomical overhead (rent being one of factors). Sad to say, but the Playbill Store might be your best value. Also, try eBay...

The Playbill logo is traditionally yellow. What show was it in blue for? Some time between 1973 & 1974 they switched to the current logo (yellow and block letters) from the groovy late-60's swoopy script (that took up a larger portion of the front cover)

Stealing staging and scenic/costume designs is regional/amateur theatre's dirty little secret. Audiences and actors alike should demand more. Unfortunately, this is the status quo for many theatres around the country. What's even worse...when some theatres do indeed pilfer the original stagings off of shows - even when they do them well, they sometimes (often) miss the point and make a show particularly soul-less. I've sat through many shows like this, and although I'm reassured by the stagin...
