Is it gonna be a full-performance? With its 2 hour time slot, I doubt it.
Well, the CD doesn't even come to an hour and a half. It's only a single-disc recording. I know the recording is not the full concert, but perhaps they did away with some of those long, somewhat unnecessary book scenes.
Now what day does it actually air?

It's this Wednesday. The show is basically the cast in full costume and acting the show on-book (with their scripts). From an article about the show:
"Unlike the realistic but uneven 2001 ABC TV movie adaptation starring Glenn Close, this 'South Pacific,' taped during a one-night-only performance last summer, unfolds on a virtually bare stage with a cast that carries scripts in hand, yet it winds an emotional wallop that the New York Times review described as 'a state of nearly unconditional rapture.'
'It's all there in the music,' [Reba] McEntire says. 'Walter bobbie did such a great job of directing this, because he didn't bother putting things like palm trees on the stage. He just let the words and the music carry it all. I was thrilled with it. Just let your imagination go, and get into the words and music, and you're there.'"
Cast includes:
Reba McEntire as "Nellie Forbush"
Brian Stokes Mitchell as "Emile de Becque"
Alec Baldwin as "Luther Billis"
Jason Danieley as "Lt. Joseph Cable"
Lillias White as "Bloody Mary"
At what time on Wednesday (Pacific and Atlantic please)
For chicago it's at Friday, April 28, 2:30am! Jeeze, what an inconvenient time. Oh well, I'll fire up the vcr.
Check your PBS listings, it may be different for everyone. I'm in Seattle and it is going to be on 9pm on Wednesday.
Was this all done on at one performance - or did they go back and retape some things? People who attended the event described several flubs - lyric and otherwise...

Its this Wednesday night at 9 pm in New York City I saw the concert at Carnegie Hall and all that I can say is that it was incredible The cast is very special especially Brian Stokes Mitchell and Alec Baldwin The song There is Nothing Like a Dame is done with a major flair for theatrics in a concert and This Nearly Was Mine by Brian Stokes Mitchell is touching
I had alerted all my friends to put this night on their calendars months ago when it was initially scheduled I made my calendar free so I can watch it again
Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy
I maybe very partial to South Pacific since I saw it in the movies in Todd A O many many years ago many many many times

For those in LA, it will be on KCET on Thursday, April 27th at 8pm, and again on Sunday, April 30th at 3pm.
Yeah, I am waiting for this for a long time.
I feel lucky that I know nothing about this show. Thus I can ignore all the flubs and simply enjoy the wonderful Stokes.
