Anyone know who holds the rights to "Spelling Bee"?? How soon after it closes do you think the ameteur rights will be available?

re: 'Spelling Bee' Rights

Hmm, not sure, but I do know that the first regional production will be done at Barrington Stage Co., where the show originated, this summer.

re: 'Spelling Bee' Rights

So, how long before armature regional theatre types are able to do the show? It says the rights are restricted yet productions are popping up all over the place...

Those are probably pilot runs. The pilot runs are done before amateur rights are released. Maybe in 2010, amateur rights will be released.

true, but hairspray rights are being released next year...does the producers or writers have a say in that?

Man, what I would give to still be in high school and do this show. High schools are going to have so much fun with this show.
