There's no real word as to when they'll be released though, aside from the first announced regional production that rclocalz mentioned.

So, how long before armature regional theatre types are able to do the show? It says the rights are restricted yet productions are popping up all over the place...

Posted: 6/12/08 at 11:15pmThose are probably pilot runs. The pilot runs are done before amateur rights are released. Maybe in 2010, amateur rights will be released.

Posted: 6/12/08 at 11:17pmHow is it that some musicals (hairspray, chicago) rights get released WHILE their on broadway and others you have to wait 5 years?
#12re: 'Spelling Bee' Rights
Posted: 6/12/08 at 11:18pmTo be fair the rights for Chicago were probably released in the 70s.

Posted: 6/12/08 at 11:23pmtrue, but hairspray rights are being released next year...does the producers or writers have a say in that?
