Spider-Man Casting Notice (Broadway Contracts)
When is official confirmation of the Hilton expected??
The Hilton's previous tenant, The Pirate Queen, announced its closing on June 5 of last year and by June 7 Mel Brooks had confirmed Young Frankenstein's stint at the theatre. Is there a similar quick turnaround expected for Spider-Man, or will one of Broadway's biggest theatres lie dark for a while after Jan 4??
Spiderman won't be ready in time for January so I assume some show will do a limited run in that theater then Spiderman will come in.
have there been any demos or anything from spiderman? like any songs?
the only thing i can find on youtube is the less the awful show in Universal Studios
They're saying over at ATC it will open in the Spring.

Excited to see the future for this!
ATC is wrong. It's for the '09-10 season. It will, however, have a long load-in and rehearsal period.
are they going to have an out of town preview? if so any announcements yet?
who the hell would do a limited run in the Hilton? Its MASSIVE. It would completely cost inefective.

This won't open late spring. ATC isn't usually reputable.
Prdictions like this are more reputable there than they are here.
Still... ATC is wrong on this one.
well either way, this is what one person said regarding the musical
"Here is what I know and feel comfortable sharing at this point.
Spiderman- The Musical- is unlike anything we've seen before (which could be a good thing or a bad thing). For anyone who knows the material they will attest to it being a very curious project "on the page." This is not a musical that could EVER make it through the interminable development hell so many shows go through these days. It's too high concept. Imagine staged readings of "The Lion King" or even "Fosse"?
What seems to make this show so unique and daring is that it is in fact part book musical and part rock concert. But the two forms work together to create what seems like a very new idea. The early draft I read started out as a straight forward book musical. But Act Two it had morphed into a rock concert, but with dramatic purpose.
In the way "Spring Awakening" worked musically, so too does Bono's score. The songs are powerful but could use help in the drama department. I believe Julie is working very hard on this.
I've seen some development sketches of set and costumes and they will be astonishing. This show will be prove "Billy Elliot's" ultimate rival for the Tony and all the awards.
The show will include many advanced Cirque de Soleil like effects, hence Julie's wise decision to collaborate with some brilliant aerialists.
I don't know what else to post. My feeling is that it can prove to be one of the newest and exciting new musicals in decades, or it will be a major bomb. I don't think it will fall in between."
i dunno, doesnt quit appeal to me personaly
If anyone is thinking about giving me tickets to this for Christmas.....don't.
Well, if it is going to rival BILLY for awards, somebody thinks it's coming in soon.
And it could be the reason YOUNG FRANK got it's traveling papers.
who the hell would do a limited run in the Hilton? Its MASSIVE. It would completely cost inefective.
Well, the ONLY show in that theater to ever make a profit was a limited run. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
