Saw the show on Friday and the one thing that I keep asking myself is: how do they store those sets backstage. The train - the store - the nightclub.
I've been backstage at several broadway houses so I know that there's not a ton of room in the wings. Does anyone have any Insider secrets as to how they can pack and store these massive sets.
Thank you.

I think they collapse and go into the rafters.
Also, how did you get to go backstage?

As someone who's been backstage many times for the Channing revivals, I can tell you that the train is stored above the stage and lowered when needed. It's safe to assume that's what's being done with this version.

There is a nightclub scene?
He's referring to the Harmonia Gardens set with its grand staircase and the 2 enormous circular private dining rooms.
The shubert has more room than most?

In the original show the back wall of the Harmonica Gardens was a drop with cut-out space for the staircase, which was rolled into place from the wings. In this production, the back wall is more substantial and that presents unique storage problems.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appeared in this production that most of the big pieces went down through an elevator upstage. I got the impression from the balcony that everything was being stored downstairs in the trap room in terms of bigger scenic pieces.

Possible. Two lampposts rose through the stage floor do some things are being toted down there.
