I don't believe this was posted yet, though I will post it anywho. The cast recording appears to be set for a December 5th, 2006 release and is currently avaliable for pre-order on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J3FBFC/ref=pd_rvi_gw_2/002-5377837-6531269?ie=UTF8)

I was wondering the same thing... Perhaps they cut it?
I am so very excited for this to come out. The first thing I thought after seeing the show was, "I need this cast recording!"

I thought the same thing. I saw the show the night before it officially opened off-Broadway and Duncan Shiek was there. I walked up to him and aftr sayinh how much I enjoyed the show, the first thing I asked was if they were recording it. He said they were working on it. So glad it is coming out soon.

I just checked my playbill from the Atlantic and it looks like it is down one, up one song. #14 "The Guilty Ones" looks to be new.

I am really excited. My friend, who is in it, said there were a bunch of changes being made. But, as far as I know, this recording was made towards the end of the Off-Broadway run.

This album wasn't made at the end of the off-Broadway run - it was recorded like last week

Yeah, I spoke with Duncan Sheik a month ago (haha, I'm not friends with him or anything, he just visited my school's radio station) and he said that they were still working on it, making changes on the music, etc. He mentioned they had recorded before and during the run, but that was just for a demo. I'm assuming they're still in the process of making the disc. They're really rushing to get it done before the release date.

Is the cast recording for Spring Awakening one that you should not listen to before seeing the show?

I have February tickets and would love to start listening now, but if it contains all the spoilers like Spelling Bee and Ave Q, I don't want to ruin the show for myself. Any advice from those who have seen it?

FrontRowFirst, you can't really get a sense of the plot from listening to the songs.

^totally agree. t is very hard to tell what is going on. I am not going to lie...the scene btwn Ernst and Hanschen, when first listening to the cd, I had no clue who they were...and I actually thought Ernst was the Adult Woman...it helps seeing the show, but the music is still very enjoyable either way!

What is up with Steven Sater getting first billing on the cast recording? I mean, I understand that for the Playbill and billboards he has first billing since he wrote the book and the lyrics. But the cast recording is about the music, not to mention that from a marketing perspective (a la "Oprah Winfrey") no one knows who the hell Steven Sater is, but the name DUNCAN SHEIK will sell CDs. Phil Collins's name is plastered across the cover of the TARZAN cast recording. Duncan Sheik's name should be prominently featured on the SPRING AWAKENING cast recording cover.
