Spring Awakening TOUR: on-stage seats?

Sorry, I know this obviously isn't really Broadway-related, but does anyone know anything about acquiring the ($40?) on-stage seats for the Spring Awakening tour? (Specifically when it comes to East Lansing, but I can't find anything about the other venues anyways.)

Supposedly they will be done by rush on the day of the performance most of the time. It apparently will differ venue to venue though.

Right now in SF you can rush for them AND buy them in advance. (A certain number are set aside for rush.)

You can buy them in advance for Seattle, but they're $70. I couldn't believe it when I saw that. They're clearly taking advantage of people who don't know that they'll only be seeing the show from a side view and are amused by getting to sit on the stage. That's a full $30 more than it costs on Broadway. I think that's totally ridiculous.

I just bought mine today for the stop in AZ, $35 each. Has anyone here seen the tour from on-stage? How is it? I'm pretty sure it'll be a little different for each venue, but I just want a general idea. I have front row for this is well, how does everyone think that'll be?

If you are a fan of the show, it's a phenomenal experience. If you haven't, and have never heard the cast recording, listen to it before you go as the orchestra tends to drown out the voices.

I'd say i'm a little of a fan...I also have tickets for the house seating on another night (10th row)...so i'm sure in all i'll have "the best of both worlds" experience...hopefully

I sat onstage in SF. Good seats. Exactly the same as broadway, if you have a choice avoid everything upstage ESPECIALLY upstage left. The drum is BRUTAL.

$70 in Seattle?! Way to take advantage of theatergoers. The seats only come out to about $50 on Broadway (if you buy online with service fees)...why does Seattle get to charge more?

Just saw the show in Seattle. Amazing. The bf, who isn't a "musical theatre" fan says it's the best show he's seen.

LizzieCurry is right. I sat onstage on sunday for the last San Francisco show. There was lots of talk about hardcore fans showing up super early to get onstage and the people I went with were dying to get those seats so we showed up at 3 am, and were first in line, but only by 45 minutes. We waited outside for 8 hours and got the tickets. They were $30, not $40. Longest day of my life.

However, it was completely worth it. Yeah its a side view, but the amazing energy and intimacy made it a once in a lifetime experience. I also, had never seen the show before, and wasn't even really a fan, but came away completely converted. And the cast is phenomenal. Especially Andy Mientus as Hanschen, and Kyle Riabko as Melchior. Anyway, it was awesome.

If that's how long people have to wait - crazy. Guess I won't be getting my tickets onstage if the city it is coming to near me does that. It would be better if they gave those away through lottery.

I was under the impression that for on stage seats on tour that they were going to lotto them off.

We asked when we re-subscribed at PPAC and they didn't know what we were talking about. Then they called us back a month ago and we got them. I only can not imagine what it will be like in that huge theater. Different, for sure.

The onstage seats are fun and the tour cast is fantastic, but because the sound is not made to sound pristine on stage and because you miss a bit of the action, I wouldn't recommend sitting on stage for your first live experience with the show.

Each venue decides how they are being sold. MOST (from what I've heard) are being sold just like regular tickets ....and for the discounted price.

THE PPAC already went on sale? In RI?? The tour hits Boston first and tix don't go on sale until FEB sometime.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I was wondering the same thing wickedmenzel318. I know that they've been selling the onstage seats, but I'm not sure if they set any aside for lotto/rush.

I saw the show from the orchestra in Seattle and found it hysterical how the on stage audience, mostly under 18's, would pose and sit just so. It seemed to me that they were more interested in being seen onstage than they were in having a valid theatrical experience.

Oh, that's a shame....did you find that throughout the show or just at the begining? I can certainly understand feeling uncomfortable in the begining of the show...and then (hopefully) they get involved and forget about being "seen".

I just caught the tour tonight in St. Louis and the show was phenomenal. I was really fortunate to see this show on Broadway back in 2007 and fell in love with it. After seeing the tour, it's still just as terrific. Kyle Riabko was absolutely incredible as Melchior, (in my opinion). If the tour comes to a city near you, check it out!

Anyone have any word on how Boston is handling onstage seats? I can't seem to find out...and really don't want to go into town just for that reason!

dramamama, I had heard that Boston is selling the on-stage seats with the rest of the tickets when they go on sale in Feb (which I knew when in Feb, of course...). They will not be sold as rush seats, though the show is supposed to have student rush possibilities.

Anyone know when in Feb the Boston tix are going on sale?
