I saw Spring Awakening when I was in New York last month and was so impressed with the vibrant young cast. Jonathan Groff was a handsome stand-out, and I thought the whole cast was exciting and talented. I'd love to hear impressions from those who saw this show and also any information about the actors and other roles they've played.
Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele are amazing. Blake seems to be doing a great job as Moritz(loved him in LOST too). And I'm not too sure I like the new Isle...based on her performance on GMA.
Overall, I think they are all very talented, but I miss John G. Jr., Lauren P., and Gideon G.

I gotta admit. I have to say SA has completely passed me by. I know of it and I know of the fans but that is it. Funny how one of the biggest shows of last year has just passed me by.

I agree. I really loved those three characters. I don't know if I saw the old Ilse or the new Ilse. The one I saw didn't stand out for me as much as I thought the role should have.
LePetiteFromage, thanks for the links! I'm off to do some reading.
Urban - I absolutely LOVE your picture! I thought that I was the only person on earth who LOVES Smile. I made my friend listen to it in the car today and he was like "uhhh, what is this show? I've never even heard of it before." And he has a degree in theatre! So anyway, your picture just made me very happy! :)

I am glad I made you smile Here I Am. I have to admit myself the show makes me smile, even if I have to YouTube it instead of CDing it.
I LOVE Blake as Moritz. I know he's no J. Gall. Jr. but he does an amazing job. Emma (the new Ilse) was pretty good when I saw her the first time. The second time I saw her, she was trying to hard to act and sound like Lauren Pritchard and it detracted from her performance. I don't know if that was her idea or she was told to do that, but she needs to find the character. When she does that, she will be amazing as Ilse.
I saw the show on Wednesday. Emma was a fabulous Ilse with a beautiful voice.
The show is in GREAT shape --- much better than when I saw it in July.
I saw this show once last May and thought it was just okay. Maybe it was because it was night, and I was exhausted because I woke up early to catch a train into the city to rush the show, then saw Mary Poppins. I saw it again in August from onstage and loved it! You really feel the energy of the cast, especially onstage.
Ive never gotten to see this one, and I just recently decided Id really like to,
if i could find some people who havent seen it already or wanna go again.
I just wish I couldve seen it with JG Jr.
To be honest, I really think Blake Bashoff does a much better job than John Gallagher, but to each his own.
Starstruck, if you didn't see it with John, it doesn't matter. The show is just a good without him.

I'm going to get flamed for saying this, but I think JGroff overplayed it a bit.
Actually to me the performers who stood out most were Lauren Pritchard and Jon B Wright.
i think jon b wright is underused..i think he has a great voice and i think he should have been kept as a melchoir understudy..i would have loved to see him in the role...however...he was removed as a melchoir understudy shortly after opening.. (i think)
I just saw the show today and I think Emma did a great job as Ilse. Her voice is beautiful and I really liked her acting choices during Don't do Sadness/Blue Wind. The only point I thought was a little lacking was Dark I Know Well. Lilli was out too with Jenna covering her track and they sang it well but it just lacked the intensity... I don't know. Just an opinion.

I haven't seen Emma Hunton yet, but I saw Lauren's last show with Blake, and he was cool.
Where did Gideon go?
He was in the Off-Broadway play Speech and Debate, which, for the record, was fabulous.
