I attended the dress rehearsal of SA tonight and I just had to say that I was amazed. I didn't see the show off-broadway and heard good things about it, but nothing too specific so I didn't go in expecting anything particular. These kids are nothing short of amazing. It's hard to believe they are all so young when they all deliver such strong, deep performances. And I mean all of them. The music is fantastic, the direction great, all the tech elements wonderful. I can't say enough great things about this show.
But their were two events that truly moved me as a theater lover tonight, first when I began to realize how many people were literally moving to the music during the show (tapping their feet, rocking their bodies, beating with their fingers). It was wonderful to see such strong, natural reaction to the show and music.
But I think the best moment was at curtain call, when the cast took a brief bow and left the stage and all of us in the audience just kept applauding, waiting for them to reenter for a second bow. I swear we were up for nearly five minutes before they finally came back onstage in various stages of their costumes as they had all gone to their dressing rooms, never intending on a second bow.Their amazement and gratitude at the demanded second bow was so incredible.
I can't say enough great things about the show. Sure there are nitpicks to be had, but it was a dress rehearsal and I walked away nearly speechless. I urge anyone deciding to go see the show.

I cannot wait to see this show....Audiences had better be smart enough to keep it running until Spring Break when I invade New York.

I see it tomorrow night (well, tonight technically!)
I can't wait! I saw it twice Off-Broadway, both times in the on-stage seats, and I'll be on stage this time as well.
WOOHOO!

I don't see shows unless they're:
A) Bad
or
B) Star Bernadette Peters
right, Inishmore?

Yeah munk, I don't think it will be your cup of tea. There aren't even any animals. But maybe you'll like the pretty lights?
I hope you all have a blast tonight!!
