I mean, at least I laughed when comparing it to some people I follow on Twitter

If this movie ever gets made, it will tank at the box office in a limited release, but will make good money for whoever picks it up for home video and digital rights. Just like "The Last 5 Years"... Hope it happens, but this is no "Chicago"...nothing close. Hollywood worships "Chicago"..."Last 5 Years," not so much...if at all.

Actually, if they cast it with teen stars, I don't see how it couldn't be a hit in the cinema. But there's no way it'll be a hit and be critically acclaimed. No way. I hope it gets made though.

KillingTime said: "Maybe Emily Padgett as Nabalungi is a bit extreme. Yet, I still think that humans playing cats is not only offensive, but ailurophobic."
You are literally an idiot.
Cinders, are you saying any film based on Spring Awakening would be either a critical or commercial hit but not both?

Sorta. What I'm getting at is, to make this a commercial hit, it will have to be extremely miscast. Just start throwing random people that will bring an audience in random parts. The cast list that Jorge attached would be very close to a commercial hit, but obviously if handled that way, it won't be good. I think the source material is great, but I can't see it selling in this day and age without miscast stars. Or, I mean, maybe a cast of stars that are actually right for their roles, but I can't think of any that will pass for children, are talented, and have an audience large enough to sell. I hope that wasn't confusing...Maybe I'm wrong, and it'll sell anyway! I'd hope so.

Maybe Lilla Crawford could play Wendla in the movie in a few years? Broadway.com actually said that she would be playing Wendla in the Spring Awakening movie as an April Fools' Day joke two years ago haha.

Totally random but I would be more interested to see a straight adaptation of the original play over the musical.
Love it or hate it I think that the not entirely realism oriented treatment wouldn't project well to film.

Honestly my dream for the project is straight adaptation of the play or a new adaptation thereof, not a musical; with the songs from the show (which are soundtrack style and not character driven anyway) performed on the soundtrack by mainstream and indie groups. Let it be what the concept always was: a cool, tone-setting mix tape, without trying to portray the "as performed by the characters outside of reality" concept.
