How are the balcony seats? I'm going to get further up if I won't be able to see.
From what I hear, you're going to need an oxygen tank as the air is quite thin up there.
I've never sat in a balcony seat in my life but I remember reading complaints about people who sat there during the run of THE PRODUCERS and were scared for their lives even walking to their seats -- they were scared to look back because of the drastic steep drop.
I sat in the balcony for closing night of The Producers and I have to agree, I felt like I needed a Sherpa to get up there. The seats are fine, but you may miss things that might happen towards the rear of the stage because the seats are much more higher up as opposed to further back from the stage.

GYPSY will be my first time @ the St James.
i have a ticket for orch, row k, but its alllllllllllll the way to the right.
not like i can do anything about it now, but should i be worried?
or should i be ridin' high?
I think that you'll be far back enough that you should be able to see any action that happens on the extreme of stage left. Most of the City Center production was staged in the center so it's doubtful that you'll miss much if anything.
I don't particularly like the balcony. As others have mentioned, it's not far away, just HIGH up. The sightlines aren't bad, but it's quite the climb to get there, and when you walk to your seat, it is STEEP.
That being said, I have a TDF seat for Gypsy next week, and I have a feeling that thats where I'll be.
It is seriously like being at a stadium with the steep steps to get to your seats. I sat row b balcony once in the St. James for The Producers and I didn't find the view that bad at all considering the other balcony seats I have bought for other shows.
I also have tickets for Gypsy in Row R of the center orchestra...is the view ok from there or should i try and move up...also how spacious are the seats???

Some balconies are pretty good (ie: Shubert Theatre, New Amsterdam taking top prize, Hilton, Palace if noone is infront of you and you aren't in the front row) however some are HORRENDUS! The St James balcony made me want to buy 110 dollar seats for Legally Blonde to avoid a similar experience. But it depends. If I miss one thing, I'll see the show again unless I hated it. Infact, some seats miss somethings but have plenty of other great things, like Front Row to the right at Little Mermaid, close as hell, but the best view of the facial expressions which make the show.
The Cort Theatre actually has the best balcony.
