"The Devil Be Hittin' Me" -- Whitney
I have been a part of 3 Standing Ovations during a performance in the past few years. 1. Wicked - Tuesday after the Tony Awards - The Wizard and I 2. Caroline or Change - about a week ago - Lot's Wife 3. Bernadette - Rose's Turn - Gypsy - on opening night. (I might be to "blame" for it, I thought is was amazing)
As for standing ovations at the end of a show, it is becomming common place. Once the leading man/lady come out for their curtain call, everyone rises....always.
Just to add my voice--the "Dreamgirls" experience still gives me chills to remember. Extraordinary, too, at "My Favorite Broadway Leading Ladies" at Carnegie Hall, she stopped the show again--we all re-lived that moment and went crazy. 2,000 screaming theatre queens can't be wrong.
