When I was in NY March 24 I waited for three hours for a standing only to have someone come out from theatre at 930 and tell us they were not going to sell any standing tickets for that night because they needed the spots for staff. I realize they are entitled to do this but was wondering if anyone knows if this was unusual. I was thinking of coming back specifically to see the show next week and get in line again for standing. It's a 10-hour bus trip, so really hoping it's unlikely to happen again. Does anyone know if they've been selling standing for most performances? Still only 5? Anyone know what time people have been getting in line? I got there at 6:30 that day and was first in line but I've read others getting there even before 5.
I got there on Saturday April 1st at 4am and was the second in line. The first person showed up the same time as me but since we were first we knew we'd get tickets for a show. They only gave out 5 tickets per show. They let us buy either show since they were both sold out. The latest person to get tickets arrived at 8 but I wouldn't think that was normal especially as more people know about tickets.
In hindsight I probably didn't need to be there so early, 5 would have worked since I was flexible with either show. Best of luck if you do it again!

I waited with you that day, so I know how much that sucked. I finally caught the show on standing room last week. On that particular night I believe they gave out 9 or 10 spots. The last person on line to get tickets was there about 7:30.
If you can, wait until after opening. They are planning to open up both sides for standing room so there should be twice as many tickets.
I saw the show on March 24 via cancellation line. I first asked about SRO at 6pm but they said they didn't sell any.
i sat in row S orchestra and there was a photographer on one side where SRO would have stood. On the other side were the creative team and producers, including Scott Rudin.
the last row of orch was empty though.
i would do SRO after opening as I doubt bette will have any flubs after opening. On eve of mar 24, Bette forgot a few words in her signature song but hid it so well we weren't sure if she was acting or if it was a real flub!
