re: Standing Ovations 4 reviews! What a great night!

As someone who knows about thismuch when it comes to musical theater, for me to be as entertained as I was is saying a lot! Kudos to Rob, Eddie and Craig for a concert that seemed to fly by, even though it was 2.5 hours long.

I didn't know many of the songs or even the performers but I really loved having the chance to discover them.

My favorite performance was also Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal just because it created an indescribable, but palpable, electricity (especially since the original guitarist from Rent was playing with the band).

I think my other favorite of the evening was Nicolette Hart. I have no idea who she is or what she's been in but that number she did from A Chorus Line was everything a good performance should be, well acted, well sung and entertaining as all get out.

(Special 3rd runner up kudos to Rob and Eddie for their soft shoe number, especially since Rob managed to not blow chunks from nerves in the middle of it, that deserves recognition all by itself.)

Beautiful! I love the ones where their eyes are closed (the last one and the third one - even though it's a little blury, I think it's my favorite).

Michael sang a song from Harold and Maude. No clue what the title is, he sounded great though. Wonder if he got his candle to finally go out.

Yeah, that's what I thought happened...Michael was also at Play On Broadway tonight and I coulda sworn he was at so4 as well, figured maybe he was there first and then came to play Name That Tune. Great guy to do both. And he won...mainly b/c his partner was friggin incredible.

Talked to him a bit after, he remembered me from the Kennedy Center once I mentioned my Wicked shirt(remember Bluemoon if you are reading this thread?) And we talked a bit, wanted to ask him about SO4, oh well.

Thanks for all the pictures, guys. Wasn't Donna McKecknie in the audience, right in front of the stage? She seemed to be having a great time.

Well Michael was the second peformance of the night so I assumed he ran off to Play on Broadway. Glad to hear he won. This was also one of the few times I've been immediately very impressed, sartorially speaking, with him. re: Standing Ovations 4 reviews! What a great night! That was a nice brown, fall color combo on him.

re: Standing Ovations 4 reviews! What a great night!

Richard Jay Alexander did a kickass job tonight. This is the best STANDING OVATIONS so far.

Some highlights for me:

I loved the fact that Natascia Diaz sang Anita and that two Latinas were up on stage singing A BOY LIKE THAT/I HAVE A LOVE.

Lea Salonga was just a delight. The poor thing just flew in from Manila, and that is no easy flight. With layovers included, it's almost a 24 hour trip. But she was still in fantastic voice, and with Richard directing, I can't wait to see Lea's Carnegie Hall debut. "Mabuhay!"

Don't remember who sang it, but the gentleman who sang IF EVER I WOULD LEAVE YOU did a phenomenal job.

Michael Arden was, again, amazing.

Another gentleman's comic song parodying Idina Menzel at the end was priceless.

And Melba Moore rocked, as did D'Jamin Bartlett, who is the original interpreter of THE MILLER'S SON.

Natalie Toro was the very first Eponine I saw on Broadway and I couldn't believe how funny she was in her number!

And Felicia Finley did a fierce Rainbow High.

Lots of great talent tonight. Bravo! Don't know how BWW can outdo this one, but I'm sure BWW will in STANDING OVATIONS 5.

Magic moments:

D'Jamin Bartlett, from the original cast of A Little Night Music, singing "The Miller's Son" in the original key. She has only gotten richer and better, like a rare Bordeaux.

Lea Salonga digging into "As Long As He Needs Me" on the level of Judy, Patti and Georgia. (Wow!)

Nicolette Hart virtually reinventing the song "Tits and Ass" and the monologue that precedes it. (Cast her in the upcoming revival!)

David Burnham melting man and woman, gay and straight, with a luscious "If Ever I Would Leave You." (He made NYAdgal swoon at the party too!)

Andrea McArdle's "Maybe This Time"--and the pride with which she introduced her daughter's number.

Malcom Gets singing and accompanying himself on the piano to his own medley of "Ordinary People" and "Something Good"--very classy!

Brooks Ashmanskas being so funny as the voice of all of us who ain't "Kids" anymore.

Jennifer Rae Beck going from her tomboyish, very funny June in "If Mama Was Married" to a gorgeously simple and moving "Feed the Birds" from May Poppins.

But the highlight of the evening for me was meeting legendary BwayWorld poster Etoile. Such a sweetheart. Who knew?

I'm blushing, thank you PalJoey.

What a wonderful night, but to me the highlight is always seeing old and meeting new friends at these concerts.

The talent was riviting. The show flowed seemlessly. I'm always so glad I attend these.
Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

And, being able to enjoy it surrounded by the wonderful people of BWW was icing on the cake!

Great concert. Great party. I'm still swooning...
