It is a collection of performances of fairy tales starring really good actors, including Bernadette Peters playing Sleeping Beauty in one of the episodes. I hear they just came out on DVD. Has anybody else seen this series?

Yes there is such a series. They had Susan Srandon in Beauty and the Beast and Pam Dawber and Treat williams in The Little Mermaid. Vanessa Redgrave played the Evil Queen in Snow White in the series

Posted: 5/30/05 at 7:38pmI think we watched the Sleeping Beauty episode in my theatre class. Bernadette Peters was in it, but I don't think she was Sleeping Beauty. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong thing, though.

This was one an awesome series. It took me a long time to get them all on VHS - and now they release it on DVD? *sigh* I'm glad they did though....thanks for the link.
Whenever I think of John Lithgow, he will always be Tatum O'Neil's father in The Three Bears. Always.

Posted: 5/30/05 at 11:32pmBernadette was definitely Sleeping Beauty! And a very young, Superman-like Christopher Reeve was her prince. I haven't seen that many episodes of the series but I do recall that one had some rather adult moments in it for a children's show!

Boy you aren't kidding!!! I'm a teacher, and during our "Fairy Tale" unit I brought up some of my movies to show. It had been so long since I'd seen them (and I should have screened first) --but I figured they were safe. However, there were some adult moments in many of them! Luckily, it went over their heads. I went home and went through several trying to find one that didn't have some rather adult humor and didn't have much luck.....

It was cute though

It took you a long time to get them on VHS. Wow! I could tell you such a story. So many sorted details. So many games. Suffice it to say it wasn't pretty. It never is when people turn out to be a disappointment.
