re: Why is leaving a show at intermission insulting?

Jun 13, 2005 — 9:45:07 PM

It's just insulting to the performers if audience members leave the show during intermission. For me personally, as much as I may dislike a show, I don't think I could ever leave during intermission and miss the other half of the show because I'm the kind of person that needs to see the whole thing, no matter how bad it may be, because after all, I enjoy seeing theatre, and I would want the full effect of the performace. Even if its terrible, having the full experience of the show is important t

re: what was your first broadway experience?

May 31, 2005 — 10:31:53 PM

Mine was seeing Grease on Broadway with my best friend and her parents as their present to me on my 11th birthday. I loved it so much, and I of course still have the playbill and ticket.

The Resistable Rise Of Arturo Ui

May 30, 2005 — 8:03:35 PM

Did anyone ever see Al Pacino in the Brecht play The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui? I did, and I loved it. What did you all think about the play?

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Last Five Years

May 30, 2005 — 4:38:32 PM

Unfortunately, I never saw The Last Five Years, but I plan to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I really love listening to the music from both shows, but they are so different. Which soundtrack do you like listening to more? Were Sherie Rene Scott and Norbert Leo Butz better in one show than the other, or were both performances great in their own ways?

Beyond Therapy

May 30, 2005 — 3:38:46 PM

Has anyone seen a production of the play Beyond Therapy? I saw the film with Jeff Goldblum in it, but have never seen it live. What did you think about it?

Broderick and Lane... Lithgow and Butz?

May 30, 2005 — 3:04:13 PM

John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz seem to have great chemistry on stage. Could they be another great performing duo, just like Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane are?

Ohh ok I see what you're saying, I'd love to read the Spanish version and compare, it would be interesting.

Stars in Fairy Tales

May 30, 2005 — 2:49:22 PM

Is anyone familiar with the series Faerie Tale Theatre? It is a collection of performances of fairy tales starring really good actors, including Bernadette Peters playing Sleeping Beauty in one of the episodes. I hear they just came out on DVD. Has anybody else seen this series?

I have never read it in Spanish, however, I don't think that the main message would be lost in the English translation because the basic plots and characters should be the same in both languages.

I was recently in a production of the play, and I think my teacher chose to direct that one because it had a large female cast and was very dramatic. He likes to do serious plays with large casts to incorporate as many people as possible. It was so much fun to do.

Pillowman

Did anybody see The Pillowman? I really want to see that, so I was wondering what you all thought about the show.

re: Rachel York in 'Lucy'

May 30, 2005 — 12:48:25 AM

Lucille Ball is my favorite actress, and I was hesitant to watch the movie because a lot of the times, the performance doesn't capture the actual person. Although I do not think that there will ever be anyone like Lucy, I thought that York did a good job, and the movie made me miss her even more.
