Is she going home to NY or is she staying with the cast in whatever city they are in? (Do actors typically stay in the same city the tours in when they "vacation" or are out on sick leave? I realize there's a lot of varience to this, I'm sure... Just curious.)

I think she said that was part of why she was leaving the tour after LA- to stay and get healed with her family, friends, etc.

I love Les Miserables.
My new pic is me(on the left)at my last dance recital:(
After a dress rehearsal right before previews started in Toronto they decided to rehearse this part where she would fly in before No Good Deed due to the lack of a trapdoor at that theatre, but something happened and the harness broke, and she was left dangling from it and being pulled higher and higher because the machine wouldn't stop or something. Anyways, she ended up with muscle spasms and back and neck and pelvis injuries I believe, and she's been going through physical therapy and accupuncture I think I read somewhere too.
I feel so bad.

So Stephanie is set to play Elphaba in all of those cities other than san fran? Wouldn't that be a bit much? It would be one thing if the show was in one place for that amount of time but it seems like it would be really exhausting to have to keep travelling to different cities, especially while recovering from an injury like that.
It's so sad, too because Stephanie is a friend of mine. I did Oliver with her a few years back and I was so eager to see her perform as Elphaba. Hopefully she recovers quickly. I would LOVE to see Eden, but Stephanie is a friend. It's bittersweet.

Sorry to say, I was left UNDERwhelmed by Ms. Block in this role. She didn't hit any of the high notes, and I realize there is more to singing than hitting high notes, but when you enjoy the way something is written/sung and you hear nothing but AMAZING things about a performer, and they back out of the big stuff...that annoys me. And her acting was just...WHOA...WAY too much...all over the place, yelling and just, calm down...So, I really hope Eden will be with the tour when it comes to Hartford, CT. I'd LOVE to see her in the role.
Vincent, I'm sorry if you were "underwhelmed" by Stephanie. I have heard her version of some Wicked songs, and IMO, she's amazing. What you have to remember here is that she's basically been "struggling through" the role since the tour began due to her injury in Toronto. If she really IS leaving for good, it has to be extremely serious, and I'll be curious to see how many performances she misses between now and then.
Okay... as far as Stephanie being out goes... I just got an e-mail from her Friday in which she said she was out for the SF show only.... nothing about Texas.... just so ya know... I'm sure she will be back with the show in September!
Sarah...No, I believe her contract is only a year long, which means it would be up in February(?)if she comes back and finishes. Mad4Music...the email doesn't mean a whole lot. A lot of people already knew that Eden was doing SF weeks before Stephanie ever confirmed it, so it could be true, but I'm not believing anything until I read a press release or an email from Stephanie herself.
I don't know much about Block's injuries, but judging from the accident, she could have sustained some internal injuries that would be pretty serious and that would greatly affect her breath support, etc. The one complaint I've heard from people who've seen in her in L.A. is that she (in their opinion) didn't seem to be able to sustain certain high notes. An internal injury could explain that.
I have heard some who saw her in LA say that, but I saw her twice in Chicago, including the tour's last show there before leaving for LA. Both times, she was perfection. (well, except that last night she forgot to do the Witch cackle, but otherwise, she was excellent!)
I am very upset! I was looking forward to seeing Stephanie in SF, but I'm sure it will still be good! I cant wait, and i DO hope stephanie has a nice break and gets back on the tour soon! ~~EM~~
So if Stephanie is missing more than the san francisco portion of the tour does that mean that Eden will be taking her place in those cities as well? I don't think Eden's said anything about this, unless this has just recently come up and she just hasn't confirmed it yet or something...Also, do you know who will be doing the tour after Stephanie's contract is up?
Thar's an interesting question, since she got hurt rehearsing the show she will ay least get Workman's comp, but if it was the Producer's decision to replace her in SF they may have made a "deal" and again her contract and Reps are all a part of this. The press release for Eden taking over in SF was very carefully worded in Steph's favor of returning. And also that she would be returning after SF.
