Apologies. However, at one in the morning, the search is just a little too much for me. Sorry... but still I'm super excited for this now!

He's not very PC...
Some of his songs make me laugh
Others make me want to kill him.
Interesting.
SHEER. UTTER. BRILLIANCE.
I couldn't imagine wanting to kill Stephen Lynch. I think the man's a freakin genious as a songwriter, and as a singer? JESUS...

Isn't he the one who sang about the Special Olympics? -_-
Probably... I wouldn't put it past him. But that's what I love about him! I love performers who push the envelope (AKA: Lea Delaria, Rosie O'Donnel, etc...) wow, why are lesbians so funny?
Anyone who knows me (and you can see in some of my posts) knows that I'm not exactly PC and I have a very sick sense of humor that I take great pride in :)

I have to say, the idea of watching a musical version of Wedding Singer with some actor doing some lame Adam Sandler imitation made me think it was just going to be crap. But with Stephen Lynch as the role, and knowing how entertaining he is, I'm suddenly looking forward to this.
You can already see him singing the song Somebody Kill Me:

When I heard about this production I just about vowed I would not go see it, but now that Stephen lynch is involved, I'm there. He is fantastic. He is just aboutt he only person I could see in this role.

I onnly know of Lynch from Opie and Anthony. He's sung a few things on their show (Joke-type songs that he's written himself), aznd his voice is okay. I don't think he probably sung as best he could any of the times he was there, because O and A would have likely made fun of him.

I actually never heard of him. He seems to be a stand-up comedian/singer...
Pretty much. He sings songs about various things that are often rather risque, but usually sings them like they are Raffi songs being sung to small children.
Can he ACT? I know, initially when Adam Sandler started his big film career, that may have also been a question...
I'm not entirely sure. I know that when he does his stand up comedy, he's actually doing a lot of Acting. Much in the style of the early Adam Sandler movies, actually. Like I said, he tends to sing them a little bit like Raffi. This isn't unlike what people saw with Adam Sandler singing the Hanukkah Song, Red Hooded Sweatshirt, Thanksgiving song, etc. The difference is that the songs Adam Sandler performed on SNL were much more family friendly. Stephen Lynch sings songs like "Special Ed... His mother dropped him on his head..."
Comedy isn't easy...however, most comedians can be funny because of their own unique take on the world and generally can be funny because they are also comedic writers...they usually are funny because they write their own material.
True. I guess what I'm thinking is that Stephen Lynch is very suited to perform anything that Sandler was intended for. I don't know that I would want to see him playing Butz's part in DRS or Bloom in Producers. But playing Adam Sandler, definitely a great casting choice.
And lets not forget that Chris Kattan was fired from THE FROGS and they had to replace him with Roger Bart.
Having seen both him and Bart, I would say Chris Kattan's performance suffered from the same thing that Kattan's performances on SNL suffered from...

Stephen is HILARIOUS. He is such a strong comedian. His songs are hysterical and even though his comedic songs don't really show his talent, if you listen closely, you know that there is talent there. So. excited.
Holy wow! I absolutely love Stephen Lynch! I *MUST* see this production!
Aww. yay! he's funny and so good!
I was ecstatic when I heard this casting news. I love love LOVE Lynch! I never would've thought of him, but I think the choice is brilliant. Bravo to somebody for using their heads on this one!
Well, I think that only time will tell about his acting abilities, but the idea that stand-up comedians are funnier when they write their own material is not necissarily true. There have been a lot of stand up comedians that were successful outside of stand-up, even MORE successful as actors than comedians. Per example:
Ray Romano (okay, he writes for his show, but he's done other things...)
Lea Delaria
Ellen Degeneres
Mario Cantone
Steve Martin
Martin Short
Darrel Hammond (sp?)
Wanda Sykes
Rosie O'Donnel
Just to name a few...
So the point is, let's just wait and see how he does before we accidentally start some kind of rumor that he can't act. I'm not saying that was anyone's intention, but it is how these things start...
my incredibly non-broadway friend has just recently introduced me to the wonderful world of stephen lynch - this casting is very exciting! he's hilarious!

Was unfamiliar with his work, but saw him on Comedy Central last night. How wonderful is he?! He just exudes charm and fun with a perfect sense of wacky. Additionally, he is VERY easy on the eyes (so yummy). He seems to have the voice and the comedy for the show, I just do hope that he can act - I think he'll be terrific.

Wow...
Absolute brilliance.
