Off-topic, but I'm wondering when they'll put up the 1st disc of the new "Sunday in the Park..." recording. The 2nd disc is there, just not the 1st and it KILLING ME!

This is Playbill Records' first CD, so I don't know if it'll be on iTunes, or when.

I forgot that the CD came out tomorrow- I got mine last week since I pre-ordered from Playbill. It's good- it helped to entertain me during my 13 hours of driving this weekend.

This is in regards to the question about sunday's 1st disc on Itunes in an email sent to me from Tommy Krasker (co founder of PS Classics)...

"Thank you for writing, and for the nice words about our label. I confess,
I didn't even know that the full SUNDAY IN THE PARK wasn't up until
another customer wrote last week, but Jason Matthews, the gentleman at our
distributor who is responsible for uploading to all the various music
services, had already spotted the glitch and has been trying to get it
corrected. Jason's extraordinarily diligent, and he's left countless
messages at iTunes, and is hoping we'll see some results this week --
Jason, I'm sure, is also aware that IT'S ONLY LIFE is not up yet, and I
guarantee he's working on that as well. In the meantime, I appreciate
your patience as we try to get all this resolved!

Im sure after all the the promo being done by playbill for Stokes (him on the today show tomorrow morning, etc) it WILL be on Itunes, question is when. Shoulda pre-ordered it....damn.

Yeah, I just checked iTunes for Stokes and Wedding Singer but I couldn't find either one.

I'm currently listening to it [Stokes's CD] on Rhapsody, and it's nice. I didn't think too much of the previews from the website, and I still much prefer his more powerful voice in Ragtime or Man of La Mancha, but there's some good stuff here. I really liked "Being Alive" and "Losing My Mind."

I bought the CD yesterday... for my mom actually, but before I pass it on to her, I'm checking it out and putting it on my iPod.

I'm listening now, starting with Being Alive. I was scared that he'd like, stomp all over Raul Esparza's version, but it's jazzy and totally different. I like it. And the ending is glorious!! I also really like Something's Coming.

ETA -- I've listened to the whole thing now. I do sort of miss the big belt he uses when he performs on Broadway... like, say, The Impossible Dream. But the CD is really relaxing. I like that arrangements, and that he put that great chill, jazzy spin on some great showtunes. Not what I expected, but definitely not a disappointment.

This is judging only from the online clips, but I really don't like it. Stokes is one of my favorite singers, and it's a shame that after finally coming out with a solo album, this is what we get. If he wanted to sing jazz, why didn't he do jazz songs?

Because he's a Broadway singer, not a jazz singer. I think re-arranging showtunes in a jazzier style was a great way to bring the two together.

Then again, IMO, Stokes can do almost no wrong.

Just got his album. VERY interesting and original spin on most of the songs. Really relaxing and it shows how good a vocalist he really is.

Does anybody know what happened to the Sunday in the Park with George album on iTunes, the 2nd disc was on it but now neither disc seems to be there?

I can't get into the new Stokes cd. Love the man, but some of those arrangements are criminal, in my humble opinion.
