Yeah this all happened last week, but no one really picked it up on these boards.
Quite the drama though. My bet is on Des diva-ing it up a little too much.

Yeah, I did a search first and was surprised there wasn't much.
This is interesting, too:

Posted: 3/27/08 at 5:26pmYea I expect that she didn't understand that Cimolino and the Board would always side w Des against every/anybody else when it came to support for "artistic direction". I stand by what I've said b4 Des does NOT play well with others. I did think it might have lasted until the season began ( well unofficially) but I guess the Times artlce meant they couldn't wait. HMMM wonder if this could be the 4th chapter for "Slings and Arrows"? ;D

Interesting articles. I'm sorry this transition isn't going well and it's just getting started. The idea of another venue for Musicals sounds great and the idea of some of Stratford's Plays touring is wonderful. Though whenever you pull executives from the outside, it usually causes trouble in house. It will be interesting how they get through this next season.
Slings and Arrows ended too soon. I agree that the inside drama must have quite a show. Of course, it could be the basis for their new,"Musical"?

As a professional on the Ontario theatre scene, all this drama lately worries me so much. Between Ha'Penny Bridge being cancelled, Stratford and CanStage have a lot of drama in the upper ranks, and Equity Showcase theatre shutting down...I have lately started looking into options in other cities and countries. I hope at the very least what can come out of this is smaller companies starting to emerge, and audiences becoming more willing to give them a chance.
