What is your favorite Song, Album, Movie, and TV Special from this legendary woman who did too little on Broadway? Also is there anyone who actually does not think she is that good?
My favorite Barbra song is a tie between "Cornet Man" and "The Music That Makes Me Dance." The former because of the AMAZIN, MIND-BLOWING vocal chops she displays, the belting and non over-the-top riffing is out of the world, love it! The latter because of the great emotional ride.
Another personal favorite that no one seems to listen to often is "Miss Marmelstein" from her first Broadway show, I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE.

My fav song is probably "I'm the Greatest Star" from Funny Girl. Favorite movie is a toss up between Hello, Dolly! and The Prince of Tides (I know...one extreme to the other!)
Favorite song? "When in Rome (Do as the Romans Do)" from the PEOPLE album (1964)
Favorite Broadway Broadway song? Her sections in "What Are They Doing to Us Now" (from I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE). Those shrills and cracks break my heart.
Favorite album? THE 2ND BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM (1963)
Favorite movie? THE OWL & THE PUSSYCAT (1970)
Favorite TV special? MY NAME IS BARBRA (1965)
Broadway Star Joined: 10/1/07
Favorite Song: "Lover, Come Back to Me" - THE SECOND BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM (1963)
Favorite Album: THE SECOND BARBRA STREISAND ALBUM (1963)
Favorite Broadway Song: (In this case a Broadway-type song): "How Lucky Can You Get?" from FUNNY LADY (1975)
Favorite Film: THE PRINCE OF TIDES
Favorite TV Special: MY NAME IS BARBRA (1965)
Yentl is pure bliss from beginning to end.
I think "On a Clear Day" is one of my favorites by her. Even though I don't always care to hear her singing pop music I like the "Guilty" album and the soundtrack from "A Star is Born". And they are actually the only two albums (Yes, on vinyl) that I own by her. And even thoighy I don't own more of her recordings, I do think that she is the voice of our time. JMO
Favorite Song: Stoney End
Favorite Album: Greatest Hits Volume 2
Favorite Broadway Song: Not While I'm Around
Favorite Film: Yentl is tied with Funny Girl
Favorite TV Special: Color Me Barbra
Oh my God, I forgot about Stoney End (I never wanted to go!!) I do love that song.
"My Man" from Funny Girl. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I love "Left In The Dark"
You know since you asked; I really like her. But I don't get the hype.
Favorite movie- now and always will be, "The Way We Were"
Favorite song- Woman in Love
Fav. Song: Happy Days Are Here Again (love the duet she does with Judy Garland too).
Fav. Broadway Song: My Man and Putting It Together
Fav. Album: Does Funny Girl count?
Fav. Movie: Funny Girl
Song: "Down With Love" from The Second Barbra Streisand Album or "Napoleon" from her Bon Soir days.
Bway Song: Cornet Man. Simply flawless.
Album: Easily, The Second Barbra Streisand Album. Although Butterfly is gorgeous and doesn't seem to get the recognition.
Movie: What's Up Doc?
TV Special: Color Me Barbra
Favorite Film......."Hello, Dolly!"
Favorite Album.......that's a hard one........"Simply Streisand" is wonderful, as is most of her earlier stuff. Not to say that her later albums aren't wonderful....they are. Her earlier stuff is extraordinary.
TV Special......"My Name Is Barbra" & "Color Me Barbra."
There are those who love to bash her.......for whatever reason. However, I feel that they do that, because it's the "double standard" issue that has been since the beginning of time. If a man is assertive, that's a good thing. If it's a woman.....she's controlling. If he's a ball buster, she's a B****. Streisand broke the mold of women "staying in their place." Men are supposed to be obsessed with their work. Yet, the only thing that that a woman can be obsessed about is a man?
I've worked with Barbra several times throughout the years. She's the ultimate professional, she knows what she wants, she expects the same level of professionalism in her work and couldn't have been more nicer and kinder to me.
If Barbra where a man, no one would be asking this question. Again, the double standard thing...
Case in point........why is it that women in Hollywood are always put under the microscope when it comes to their weight, appearance, age, etc. You never hear a man being judged that way??

(yawn)
A simple response to his question would have been sufficient instead of this long tired-ass Streisand rant about "double standards" she's been schpeeling since the 70's.
Blah-blah-blah...yada-yada-yada.
We've heard it on EVERY Barbara Walters Special she's appeared in.
Next topic!
BrodyFosse123.....it's the truth. Plain and simple. And, if my response is too long, then don't read it.
She hasn't been schlepping them.....all women have.

Her earlier work is by far the best and most raw. And, though I think she is wonderful, she has morphed into the diva legend that she fashioned herself to be.
Since the original poster asked, I do not like Streisand as a performer. I was once offered a free ticket to a Detroit concert. My reply is unprintable.
