What's Travis Fimmel doing these days?

This is just horrible - Josh is a very talented performer; his singing is excellent, his acting is fine, and I felt that he truly embodied the character - they'd be stupid to get rid of an excellent Tarzan for some awful stunt-casting. I'm truly gutted for him that people are talking about dropping him. There are many performers on broadway who are giving worse performances, imo. Josh has to stay!

Josh Strickland is the absolute least of their problems. They have got to be kidding.
Why not work on replacing Bob Crowley, Phil Collins, and David Henry Hwang instead?

Well I have read all the reviews and comments about Tarzan. Also a first hand report from a respected friend with more experience than me has made it clear that Tarzan has serious flaws. That all aside...
I watched the BWW preview video and thought "Oh cool I want to see that". Now I know that I probably shouldnt think that with all the evidence to the contrary but if good marketing as that effect on me, well think of how it plays with general joe public who watch crap movies all the time thinking they are great.
As it is I will be seeing Tarzan during the pre-Tony week and shall make my own mind up. I take all this speculation with a pinch of salt. This guy may have "connections" but wasnt he the one who posted all those bizarre reviews near the start of previews? Not really a Broadway person from what I read. Of course Disney would have no qualms with buying someone out to "save" a production. I just dont see them at that stage yet. By all means cast Joey McIntyre or some soap boy but dont imagine that they count for more than the Disney brand. This is show will run on that for a long time.
Its the tourists, stupid.

Reviews are completely antithetical to the creative process. I am completely serious when I say I believe the "industry" would function just as well (if not better) if critics were done away with altogether. Let an audience decide and then let word of mouth and marketing help or hurt a show.
That being said, Disney is one of the few forces in this country capable of overpowering the critics.

Posted: 5/13/06 at 3:01pmI think there are very few actors who can do this role WELL!!! I mean come on can you imagine most of your favorite male broadway actors galavanting around the stage like an ape? I actually can't. I think that josh does a wonderful job in the role and I honestly don't think I could imagine anyone else in it! I hope this doesn't happen, as I'll be quite upset!

The only thing that could get me in that theatre
to see this green plastic hula skirt production
is if they could sweet-talk Matthew Morrison
into playing Tarzan!
And what are the odds of that?

Wanna sell tickets?
Hire Harvey Fierstein... and also Rosie O'Donell as Jane. When she leaves, Harvey could take ove her role too!

nomdeplume- It's not that difficult to sweet-talk a sweet-talker, but I think in this point in his career, he wouldn't be interested in being a replacement. Just my 2 cents.

I agree, Phantom2, MM is more a show opener, that's why I don't think there are any odds of it happening.
Yet it is still about the only thing that might get me in the Tarzan tent to see the show.
Sad when TV and movies lure off our best theatre talent...

Posted: 5/13/06 at 4:37pmWell, I'm going to see it and I will draw my own conclusion. It's important that everyone does that. What's one man's junk, is another man's treasure.
