I left my ID at school and was wondering if I could show up at the box office with a copy of my current transcript in place of it? If not, what have people been able to use? I will be with a friend who has a student ID, but just in case we get closed out and wind up at one that's one per ID.
Thanks!
I don't know to be honest with you. I guess it depends on the show you want to see and the person working at the box office. I have done some student rushes in the past where they didn't even ask to see my ID. I have done others that were college IDs only (which didn't bother me considering that I am in college) and others that where you could have used any kind of student ID.
My only question for you is this. Do you have a regular photo ID? I am only asking because if you're trying to use your transcript you might need a photo ID to prove that the name on the transcript is your name. But, other then that, I don't know to be honest with you.
If you look like a student, they usually don't ask.

Definitely not true. I look much younger than I actually am, and I am almost always asked for ID.
Depends on who's working at the Box Office. That's the only real answer.
Yeah, I have the same issue as Em. I'm pretty short and have always looked young and only once was I not asked for my I.D.
It totally depends on who's working at the box office, etc but I highly doubt that if you have your transcript and maybe some form of I.D. (drivers license or something) they won't care. When I went to SPEED THE PLOW a while ago, a group of girls was looking for rush tickets and had forgotten their ID's. They clearly were college students who truly did forget their ID's and the guy at the box office let it slide and let them in without showing their Student ID's.
I have an ID thats five years old and I still use it, the only show I've had a problem at is Little Mermaid. That woman is really rude in general, but she almost didn't let me rush at all because the ID didn't have a date. Luckily I look exactly the same, so she ended up giving me the ticket. They barely glanced at it for Billy Elliot and Guys and Dolls. I think for most shows you're set with proof of enrollment and picture ID.
I don't have a student ID as I am only in Middle School. Next year I will get one. Meanwhile I normally do a lottery instead. But I have been to rushes where they have turned me away because I only had a passport or a gym card. But some of the people are very nice and don't care.

That annoys me so much. Like you have any control over whether your school puts a date on the i.d.

I've had a friend sing her school song to prove she was a college student for Gypsy student rush. You could try that.
Right? Seriously, sometimes I feel like some box office people begrudge poor college (and somewhat post-college) people their cheap seats. Who are they to judge! Those loans aren't going to pay themselves...
*end rant*
I have only not been asked for my ID once... but I think it was Glory Days so they might have just been happy that someone was paying?
I don't really remember if they guy at 13 asked or not, all I know is I gave him my ID with my money, so he may or may not have needed it? But I think if you have a transcript then you should be good if you have a corresponding ID

Well s/he was abusing the whole Rush policy...
ive seen some kids use report cards as proof of their being a student, but im sure as others have said its up to the box office personnel. paper products are easier to recreate than the plastic ID cards theyd prefer to see.
It really depends on the box office. One time I was rushing Bee and I didn't have my school ID. So I printed out an unofficial transcript and one other thing and brought it to the box office. They looked like they didn't want to be bothered with actually "studying" the documents, so they just sold me a ticket.
But that has been the only time I tried something like that. I usually have my ID.

Let me guess... Red hair and glasses? Is she STILL there? Jeez...how has she not been fired yet? She was awful when Beauty and the Beast was playing, even calling one person in front of me in line a stupid idiot because he couldn't understand her as she talked a million miles a minute. Then simply walked away from the window to do god knows what with this guy she was talking with who OBVIOUSLY was more important than the people who were actually picking up and/or buying tickets. She didn't even tell anyone she was leaving ~ the other woman in the box office happened to notice no one was at the window helping people and came over.
The guy working at 13 didn't check my ID. I just gave him my money and he gave me a ticket with no questions asked.

To be honest with you I've been only asked for my ID twice and that was Spring Awakening and A Tale of Two Cities. I was not asked for my ID for Gypsy, All My Sons, Speed the Plow, and Equus. I sometimes go after school with my school uniform so maybe that's why they don't ask me.
I always have my ID in my hand with my money as I go up to the window. They obviously can see it, but they've never asked to take a closer look at it to make sure it's valid. Only once at Gypsy the guy asked to see our IDs and actually took a close look at them because there was 4 of us total and he said he needed to see at least 2 IDs.
