Posted: 12/29/09 at 11:19amHi everyone. I have four little cousins who are all under the age of 18. We are interested in going to see a Broadway show, and we have never used student IDs before... we have always paid full price or went to TKTS. I was wondering if student tickets were only for college/university students, or if any student ID would suffice.... middle school ID, high school ID, etc. Thanks!

Posted: 12/29/09 at 11:56am99% of shows allow any form of student ID. This new "4 year Ivy League School ID" policy one or two shows have is brand new and I doubt will last long.

Posted: 12/29/09 at 12:49pmSome shows specify that they only accept 4-year college/university IDs for their rush. White Christmas does it, and I believe Little Mermaid did it too. I'd check with the specific show you're interested in, but most shows will take any student ID. I've personally only done rush when I was in high school/college so I don't know about the middle school thing.

Posted: 12/29/09 at 6:25pmI did rush with my brother when he was in 6th grade, and I myself was doing rush around once a week when I was in 7th/8th grade, and never had any problems. My ID only ever had my graduation year on it, though, never what my current grade was. And I've always looked a little older than I am.

I believe that the only show that offers student discounts for college students only are White Christmas and South Pacific.
I never fully understood what The LIttle Mermaid's rush policy was. I went the the show once using my student ID during a wednesday afternoon of my senior year in high school and they accepted the ID. Went back a while later when I was in college with my college ID and when asked about their student rush policy, the woman I was dealing with said that the person must not have been doing his job. And, that he shouldn't have given me a ticket with my high school ID.

Most theaters say that and often just hold the tickets regardless of sales...but they are not PROMISING to make them available.
I would suspect that you shouldn't worry about them selling them as their numbers are fabulous. Check playbill.com or the above site for the details.
Someone else may give you a sense of how busy rush for this is.

Posted: 12/29/09 at 7:54pmMEMPHIS rush is best available at the time. I got 3rd row center the first time I did it. You're best off going Tuesday-Thursday for better seats.
