I saw the touring cast of Avenue Q last night in Baltimore. I have a question about "The Money Song." When the actors came into the audience a good amount of people passed down dollars to put in the actor's hats. Does anyone know where the money goes? I thought maybe Broadway Cares...but I don't know if that applies to the touring cast....

Ahhhh! I have my answer. I was flipping through the Playbill and in very small writing it says... "Any donation received during this performance will be given to Broadway Cares/EFA."
So for the rest of you that were also wondering, there you go!
John Tartaglia mentioned early in the run that the money was donated to Broadway Cares and that the phone numbers were thrown away.

I didn't notice any phone numbers (not that I would have been able to see), but during the line when they say, how much did we get, they "pulled out" a Baltimore Ravens ticket stub... It was cute and got a good laugh, considering the pitiful season they had this year. What do they say in NY?

the "finding" in the hat mirrors any local team or town affiliation, but rest assured, ALL donations go DIRECTLY to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids....
It's a Metrocard not Metropass.
That is what they usually pick out of the hat after.
Usually, when they are sorting throw the money the got during the song and they comment about getting a metrocard. Princeton says something to the effect of " I'll take that." But, during the demise of the Mets I saw a preformance that had a very funny ad lib between princeton and Gary Colman.
Instad of the Metrocard it was a Mets ticket that resulted in the following adlib
Character who picks up ticket ( forgot who this usually is): Oh, And a Mets ticket.
Princeton: I'll take that
Gary: Why the hell would you want that?
Princton: free baseball ticket
Gary mumbles under his breath: stupid ass puppet doesn't know a thing about sports."
I mean yes, they do change the item around depending on where the show is playing. I have heard people say that they pulled out things like a ticket to the san Deigo Zoo. To a card that says " if your looking for a good time call..." when they were in Vegas.

In Vegas it was ALWAYS... "this ticket from 'Thunder from down Under'"
they should make a list of all the great ad lib lines that Avenue Q says during that moment....
They could do all kinds of things...
I am glad to know the money goes to BCEFA seeing as I was one who got money into the hat.

When I saw Ave. Q in Houston, at the end of the show, they said all the money would go to Broadway cares. Updated On: 12/17/07 at 11:05 AM
I wonder where it goes in the west end production...
If i wasn't so tired I'd go find one of my programmes.
