Show tunes you HATE and LOVE!

Sep 7, 2010 — 5:33:07 PM

Hate: -Something Bad from Wicked (Draaaaags) -Word of Your Body (both the original and the reprise) from Spring Awakening (Even though the reprise is funny, it totally stops the story for pointless make out sessions.) -Don't Be the Bunny from Urinetown -Seasons of Love from Rent (I've always thought that it was way overrated) Love: -Brotherhood of Man from H2$ -Little Shop of Horrors from well... yeah -Run Freedom Run from Urinetown -The I Love You Song from Spelling Bee (literally makes me c...

I loved The Addams Family

One more thing. I don't mean to drag this into 4chan territory, but this bothered me so much and all the reviews seem to skirt around it. Is it just me or do they use tentacle p*rn to resolve the plot between Lucas' parents? People were laughing during his song about being in the arms of a squid, but I couldn't have been more creeped out! I don't know. Maybe that's what they were going for.

I loved The Addams Family

I'm in the "Save your money" crowd on this one. This was the worst Broadway show I've ever seen. It starts with the iconic opening strains of the television show theme and that gets you all excited, and as the show goes on you just sink lower and lower and lower into your seat. There was one joke by Jackie Hoffman that had my e...

I don't know if this means much, but there were a lot of old matinée ladies when I saw it last Saturday, and as my companion said "They can't all be Hunter's mom." I liked what Susan said about how old matinée ladies have lived through "Death, divorce, children, and wars. I think they can handle me dropping the F bomb."

re: My thoughts on DAMN YANKEES

Anyone with similar prejudices for/against any particular shows? I was in DY at my high school in February. Since I think I was unfairly not cast in a supporting role (the director told me to my face that it was because the other girl could tap dance) and I was in very few scenes and my school's drama program is extremely cliquey, I do not have extremely fond thoughts regarding Damn Yankees. But I loved the material and I loved singing it and dancing to it and that is the precise reason I bou...

Yay! I'll be there on the 20th! I can't wait. Welcome to NYC Sean Hayes, and welcome back Jane Krakowski.

re: Worst Broadway Audience Ever?

This is a little embarrassing because it is a story about my own family being disrespectful in the theatre. We went to see In The Heights last month, but first we had dinner at Angus. I was with my mother and my second cousin once removed (whom I'm very close to for such a distant relative). So, at dinner they decided to order a whole bottle of wine to split and towards the end of dinner my mom decided she didn't want to waste it, so they finished it off pretty quickly. By the time we got to ...
