Remember when Corky's mom announced to the family that she was pregnant, and they were all REALLY surprised, even though she had already put on about 75 extra pounds?

Remember when they did everything possible to make Corky's mom sing? Corky has a BM, sing 'WIND BENEATH MY WINGS'.

robbie - i can't believe you brought BROKEBACK into this thread - you really are a bigot.

Maybe Patti can get Corky a job -- they're reunion is long overdue. I think Corky was born to play Tobias. If he came in and did matinees, they'd get my $110.

Can the little whippersnapper play the violin?

I think there are roles for the entire Life Goes On cast in SWEENEY. I'm not even going to list them here - they're all obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Not sure about violin, but maybe Patti can turn over her triangle duties to Corky. Can't you just see him clanking away on it during "Not While I'm Around?"

This thread reminds me of my dear late grandmother. Growing up with her was a real treat. For those of you who've seen Beauty Queen of Leenane, that is the basic gist (though her death was natural, I admit), but change the accent to Central Texas and you're there. She'd often say, "I'm not a racist!" (usually followed by the "I watch The Cosby Show" defense) and proceed to use the "N-word" whenever she saw someone who chose the African-American lifestyle. She did, however, refer to Theo Huxtable as a "faggot" when he pierced his ear.

As for me, "faggot" or "sissy" was her usual criticism, though once she ventured as far as "masturbating sadist". My bedroom was next to hers from when I was 5 until I was 18. (This probably clears up a lot for many of you out there) My favorite retort was whenever you were able to prove her wrong about...well...most things, her definitive reply was always, "ARE YEW CALLIN' ME A LAHR??" To answer "yes" would result in a response that would simply take up too much time to explain at the moment. That is for another day, perhaps.

Ah, the sweet, yet brief taste of nostalgia can nauseate as much as the original moment.

"Masturbating Sadist"

Well, now I know what I want on the cover of my Xmas cards next year......

"The Beauty Queen of Aboline" is the working title of the Americanized musical version I am planning. Matt, could you provide us with more of Granny's colorful phrases?

I know I said I was done with you all, but I was just thinking what a tragedy it is that the "Munk goes to Rent with a Homophobic boyfriend" thread was locked before eslgr8 had a chance to chime in on how "despicable" Mrs. Munk is.

Okay, NOW I am done with you.
PEACE.

Sueleen - I was thinking something simpler like "MOZELLE - The Musical". And yes, that was her real name.

Actually, my mother, my brother and I are putting together some memoirs of this rather unforgettable woman. She had a history that even Joan Crawford would have considered a bit harsh. And yes, it includes mutlitudes of colorful phrases and vernacular gymnastics such as "Git that over yonder!", tumped as is "Dammit, you tumped over the bucket! Do it again!" and "It's winner (referring to the season)! Not win-Ter (mocking girly tone)! You sound like a sissy!"

And anyone who thinks I'm exaggerating has obviously never met my family. Shortly after Mozelle died, my parents saw Beauty Queen on Broadway knowing nothing about the play and my mother called me immediately afterward saying, "Matt! I just had an epiphany!"

One day, Mozelle will be a household name...

Right up there with Nedra.

Actually...I can't wait for the sitcom NEDRA AND MOZELLE. It'll be on the WB.

Ah, but I could easily spend the rest of my days with Nedra. She is a dream come true.

To pair them, however, is quite an interesting notion.... I like you're thinking, robbiej.

It'll be kinda like a Driving Miss Mozelle kinda thing...with perhaps a Dolores Claiborne twist thrown in.

If only every thread on this board was like this one instead of being another: "Perfect Casting, Wicked, Rent,Shoshana,Idina,Rent,Wicked,I'm going to be famous one day, Wicked, so and so is so mean at the stage door, so and so is going into Hairspray, Rent, Idina, why did BKLYN close, OMFG I love Idina sooo much, Chenolove, Sutton must be cast in every role, final performance of(insert Wicked performer here) review" thread, I'd be back full time and with a seething vengeance, in spite of certain idiotic board members who are never going away. Alas, I know it's nothing but a pipe dream. But it sure was fun while it lasted.

I've tried Shawk, GOD KNOWS I'VE TRIED! There's always someone (well, only a few posters really), waiting to piss in my swimming pool and I'm too bored with them to put up with it. They're simply not intelligent enough to be worthy of my angst at them or my "schooling". It all became too predictable in it's tedium for Uncle Al.
