Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me. I'm a songwriter who's putting together an album; 12 songs with a different singer for each song. I'm having trouble finding/deciding on juuuuusst the right singer for one of the songs, and I wondered if you had any suggestions?
I'm looking for a male baritone, preferably older (or with an older-sounding voice), with kind of a James Taylor vibe to it. White, black, green, red, I don't care, but someone with that smooth, comforting, deep, rich voice that makes you feel all warm inside. The song goes down to a low A and up to a high D, so not quite a bass but not the high tenor we're so used to hearing these days.
It can't be someone TOO big (Norm Lewis isn't returning my calls, haha), but I have been in this business for a long time and do have many, many connections, so don't be afraid to throw out a name even if he seems unobtainable. Plus, it's easier to get a bigger name for a recording than a show because it's only a few hours of their time. So he should have SOME clout, and hopefully have a recording or two already under his belt. I'm sure there are people I'm forgetting, so that's where you can help me!
Feedback on the song (from the demo) has been good so far, and the song's message is a strong one and I'll be making a video, so it has the potential to go viral (at least I hope so). Now all I need is the perfect voice to go with it; thanks for any help you can provide!
