This may have been posted before, but I searched to no avail.
IMDB.com reports that movie musicals for both Sunset Boulevard and Aspects of Love are in the works.

Here's more info on Sunset:
"After Bombay Dreams opens in the West End later this year, Webber wants to really concentrate on getting movies made. Now that both "Cats" and "StarlightExpress" have closed in London he could do with the money.
Encouraged by the success of the UK tour he wants to fast tracked "Sunset Boulevard" for production. They have outlined who they want for the picture and are on the verge of starting to approach them. Either Joel Schumacher or Skekar Kapur is wanted for director, whilst Glenn Close, Bette Midler and Liza Minnelli are the favorites for Norma Desmond.
Edward Norton, Robert Downey, Jr and Hugh Jackman are wanted for the male lead, Joe Gillis. Kate Winslet, Faith Hill and Martine McCutcheon are in line for Betty, with Patrick Stewart as Max and Albert Finney as Cecil B. De Mille. Julie Taymor, director of The Lion King on Broadway is wanted for a re-make of "Jesus Christ Superstar"

holy fuk, whats with all the new bwdy remake movie musicals?!?1/ i am so happy yay!!!!!
tnks for the info...interesting.
It's now for sure that Norma Desmond is being played by Glenn Close.
Don't get your hopes up - Aspects of Love has been on imdb.com for about five years, despite there having been no news that it is actually going to be made
Eastwickian is right about Aspects. There was a listing for a TV production of Aspects that was supposedly done in 1993, featuring most of the original cast. However, no one has ever seen this TV production, so it was likely not made.
Thats too bad about Aspects... of all the direct to video releases of ALW stuff, Aspects and Sunset are the two that I hoped for the most... Even Trevor Nunn's "dizzying" production (how often do people use that description for his productions? Les Miz, Aspects, WIW...) of Aspects most likely would have worked well on Television as is.
thanks for the info... I strongly believe that Joel Schumacher should never be allowed to direct another musical, given what happened to the Phantom movie (which I would have enjoyed if it were properly cast) As for the other mentioned frontrunners in the Sunset cast, whatever happened to Ewan McGregor or Anthony Hopkins for Joe and Max?
Last I heard Hugh and Glenn were signed for Sunset and nothing else had been said. As far as Taymor doing JCS....didn't we just have a filmed version of this not 4 years ago, granted it sucked and I'm sure Taymor could do a better job.......but come on!

After Bombay Dreams opens in the West End later this year,
This information is a bit old, isn't it? Bombay Dreams has already opened and closed on Broadway.
We were promised an announcement about the movie version of Sunset Boulevard earlier this year, but it never happened. There was some discussion of Jackman vs. McGregor, but when Ewan was asked about the part (at a movie premiere), he said he didn't know anything about it.
So even if they do plan to make it, I think any casting rumors at this point are probably null and void.
I think it has already been confirmed that Glenn Close and Ewan McGregor were cast in the upcoming movie version of ALW's SUNSET BOULEVARD.
The information from IMDB that appears in the first post of this thread is outdated.
After the casting of Close and McGregor were announced no further news has been reported.

I hope this doesn't *procrastinate* for 15 years, like Phantom. Any wonder if Glenn Close will end up in the same position as Michael Crawford.
Jee, I hope not. But it always takes forever for Lloyd Webber to make a film

No, it hasn't been confirmed. Speculated, and there was one article that talked about choosing McGregor over Jackman because they thought the former would have better box office draw, despite his weaker voice (that's what the article said). So a few people who thought it was wrong to do a musical with someone who doesn't sing well (or to pass up Jackman, who'd played the roles succesdfully on stage) emailed Really Useful Group, and they reported that nothing was confirmed.
Heck, some articles published after that "confirmation" said that McGregor and Jackman were both still in the running, and another article said that Jackman had been cast as Max!
That was a while after other articles confirmed Jackman and Anthony Hopkins.
I suspect that they decided to hold off doing the movie because Phantom did not do as well as they hoped.

If they ever do the Aspects movie I hope that Andrew Lloyd Webber learned with Phantom that he better put the original cast in the movie...otherwise it will suck. My 2 cents anyway. Michael Ball is the only Alex and Ann Crumb the only Rose!
As much as I love Sunset I don't think I desire to see Glenn Close as Norma on film. And speaking of the POTO film, What was with the make up? His mask comes off and he looks like he had a sunburn or a chemical peel, nothing like it looked onstage which was more frightening. I haven't seen RENT (film) yet, but will, Don't know if I desire to see "The Producers", Disliked everything in POTO except Minnie Driver, and liked "CHICAGO" - although it still could have been better.
