ABC Family has cast Tony Award®-winning actor Sutton Foster in the lead role of the new Amy Sherman-Palladino pilot, “Bunheads.” Foster will play Michelle, a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man and moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school.
Renowned for her musical theater talents, Foster is currently starring in The Roundabout’s revival of “Anything Goes,” a role that has earned her numerous accolades, including a 2011 Tony Award. Foster has starred in Broadway productions of “Little Women,” “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Shrek the Musical,” as well as “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” for which she also won a Tony Award.

Good for her! Sounds like it could be funny...but it IS Abc family...Still, I'll be watching!

I hope this show breaks the ABC Family curse, but who knows?
It's a pilot.
It may or may not get picked up. It may or may not even air.
Congratulations, yes. But that's only the first step to becoming a regular on a TV series.
I hope this show breaks the ABC Family curse, but who knows?
You mean that they haven't had a show worth watching since they canceled State of Grace?
whoawhoa- Let's not get hostile about 'Pretty Little Liars" here. That show is quality juice.
I don't get the ABC Family curse statement. They have had some pretty popular shows that have lasted a few seasons. Not saying any of them are good, because I honestly don't know.
Okay - IF it gets picked up, I'll be watching. Better?
And I'm just sayin...if JOEY & MELISSA can be picked up, I don't see this having much of a problem.
"Okay - IF it gets picked up, I'll be watching. Better?"
Me, too. I'll definitely check it out of Sutton's in it.
I'm with Katurian, Pretty Little Liars is the best mystery show on TV, ABC Family show or not. So that's the only show worth watching since State of Grace.
Good for Sutton, but yeah, ABC Family is more hits than misses in terms of quality so even if the pilot is picked up...eh.
Really? I think ABC Family shows are just unwatchable and feature some of the most terrible writing/acting. I love Sutton but haven't been impressed by her screen work either, she's so terribly likable though, perhaps she just needs the right project to shine....I just wish it were on a different network, oh well.
I usually don't like the writing on ABC Family shows either, but this one will be written by Amy Sherman Palladino, who created "Gilmore Girls" - so I think it's safe to say the writing will be good! Sutton is indeed very likeable and I think she will be great on a sitcom; but an ex- showgirl? Hmmmmmm, not sure I can see that. Happy for her, though!
I would definitely watch this if Sutton was on it. And by the way, I actually think that Switched at Birth is a quality show that gives me hope for Bunheads.
Sounds like they may have been influenced by Dance Moms.

Half the time I can't even tell what's an Onion parody headline anymore.
This may be the worst title for a television series ever.

Did you see her last sitcom, The Return of Jezebel James?
...
(and since we all seem to be horribly nit picky and pedantic in this thread, State of Grace was back when it was Fox Family--under completely different execs than now that it's ABC Family. Oh and I thought Greek was kinda a decent teen drama...)

You read my mind EricMontreal. Jessica James; great cast, Parker Posey, Lauren Ambrose, Michael Arden and it died a painful death.
Well if none of you have watched the show SWITCHED AT BIRTH, I highly suggest checking it out. The first 13 episodes are available to stream on Netflix now. The show received the highest ratings for any show ever on that channel, so much so that ABC ordered an additional 22 episodes on rush, to come back in January making the total number of episodes for the shows first season 35. And that's unheard of nowadays for a scripted television show.
How many people keep reading this as "Buttheads?"
Worst title ever.
^ Yeah, it is a really bad title.
And hate it all you want, because I don't like it either, but The Secret Life of the American Teenager is still on. And doesn't seem like it will get cancelled anytime soon. I still don't understand why that is so popular.
Bunheads? That title really is gross. If I watch it, I'll probably never admit to it out loud. I don't even want to say that word.
The only show I really watched on ABC Family was Kyle XY. Cheesey, but still fun. Now I put on Melissa and Joey for some light fare when I'm cleaning house or doing the laundry. It's basically a reboot of Who's the Boss and doesn't demand a lot of attention.
