Sutton Foster solo concert tonight (4/28) at Joe's Pub

Tonight Sutton Foster is having a solo concert at Joe's Pub at 11:30 to preview her debut album Wish. Is anyone going? If so, I need details!! An audio would be loved as well!! I wish I could soo badly, but I was just in NYC last week, I live in Maine, sadly. Although I did see Sutton in Young Frankenstein three times in two days on Tues and Wed. That was amazing.

But yea, if you are going, make sure you post some details! It's sold out, so I'm excited about that!!

I asked Sutton about this concert on Friday and she said a much bigger concert is coming in January (i think) at Lincoln Center. It is to celebrate the release of her CD and tie-in with all the press surrounding Shrek.

For real? That is AMAZING!! Thanks for that info! I was hoping for a bigger concert, hopfully one I can make it too. Did she say when it is supposed to be? Like maybe near the beginning of Jan, when I might actually be in NYC? hehe. That would be amazing. Thanks.

I would have gone if it wasn't so freaking late. It's not like Young Frankenstein had a show tonight. Hopefully there will be a larger concert in the future because I'd love to see that.

Sutton mentioned the exact date of the show at Lincoln center, but I honestly can't remember it.

She was absolutely phenomenal. A perfect set of songs. She did a duet of Craig Carnelia's "Flight" with Megan McGinnis that was stunning. There were lots of other highlights, but the songs are obscure and I don't know the names of them. I guess that we'll just have to wait for the album...

Honestly, there were a ton of songs and many were very rare pieces. Almost no showtunes. She was adorable, and the audience loved her.

How long was she on for? Did she do any more duets other than the one mentioned above with Megan McGinnis? Did you spot any Broadway performers in the audience?

I heard that the entire cast of YF was there to watch (minus Megan Mullally) plus her brother, Hunter Foster was there.

Cool! Thank you so much for replying - I'm in the UK, so I only get to see a few Broadway shows a year (if I can save up enough money that is). I really enjoyed seeing the cast of YF on stage the other week and I'm glad to hear they're so supportive of each other. I will check out Sutton's CD when it's released. Funnily enough, I watched her in 'Flight of the Conchords' on the plane on the way over to NY the other week and didn't even recognise her at first!

I also saw her in Drowsy last year, have now seen her in YF, so I definitely want to see her in Shrek if I can. I'm also very enamoured of Roger Bart and Christopher Fitzgerald as Broadway performers - they were very funny in YF.

Anyway, back on topic - Sutton's vocals were fantastic in the videos I've seen.
