I have tickets to see Sweeney on March 30th and can't wait. I only really know Patti, Michael, and Manoel though, so I'm a little nervous about being able to recognize everyone at the stagedoor. lol. I'd love to get EVERYONES autograph, and I'd feel bad if one of the other cast members was there and I ignored them or something. They all sound amazing on the cast recording.
Anyways, I'd love to hear some stage door stories about Manoel.
It does get really crowded but I'm sure you can get a picture. Also, everytime I have met Patti she has been unbelieveably nice, and we have spoken a lot through e-Mail and she really is such a sweetheart.
It is understandble for a Broadway star to not want to stand outside in the snow.
Manoel is absolutely amazing at the stage door. Him and I spoke for a good 10 minutes, and he invited me to walk down the street to keep talking. He doesn't run off, he just casually walks away and he makes sure everyone is happy before he leaves. He is wonderous! Have fun at the show doll! Updated On: 1/29/06 at 11:17 PM

Manoel always comes out and signs and this show really is a launch pad for his career on broadway(I hope!). The first time I saw the show I was blown away by how he can hold his own onstage with Patti LuPone and not be seen as anything less than important next to her.
The cast works great together and BrokenLizard, I doubt you will be unimpressed. You must tell us the outcome when you see it of what you thought.

i was too shaken up to say hello to anyone in the show besides donna lynne champlin (amazing, amazing woman) and Alexander Gemignani who is also truely amazing and very hot. patti didn't come out because it was a matinee but i got her autograph anyway with the courtesy of donna lynne champlin. amazing experience. i think if patti had come out i would have fainted.
I just came back from a lovely Sweeney stage door experience after the Actor's Fund performance. Given most of the people were actors there, there was about 8 of us at the stage door, and well on an aside note, we were all friends by the time Patti came out last. But yeah, the point is everyone in the cast was amazingly sweet, definitely one of the nicest on Bway. Alex and John did walk out fast, and Diana even tried to get John to come over to sign but he got too shy. Me, the pit geek, was very disappointed.
But anyway...I carry a silver sharpie w/ me everywhere I go so most of the other ppl at the door wanted to borrow it so w/ Lauren, Ben, and Manoel we all made jokes about my sharpie: don't leave home w/o it and such. Donna stayed and chatted a little while, b/c I told her how I notice little ways she tried to "conduct" and how great it was, and we chatted a bit more just on the difficulty of playing memorized w/o a conductor and stuff b/c I play and she was soo sweet. But best comment, we were talking about the breaths she gives to start songs sometimes...she said they're gonna be up a creek(or something to that effect) if she has a head cold!
Then Diana came out...and I'm a clarinetist...and put it this way...it's easier for me to talk to Patti than Diana. But shaking, I started getting out "you're...amazing," that I play clarinet, and then we had a bit of a clarinet geek convo, how she had a good reed tonight(how important that is and sometimes they'll be great one night and not the other), the difficulty in tone and tune and high notes quality...ohh she was great. Soo happy I got words out.
And now looking back I just realize one of the many ppl that came out that I couldn't place was in fact Mark Jacoby. Stupid us at the stage door...
Michael actually came out before Patti. It actually was a while, but watching everyone else come out the stage door def made up for the time. He was very sweet, as I've heard, told us Len Carou and other Sweeneys were in the audience, joked about my sharpie, and did something else that made me think oh he's so sweet and I don't know why I can't remember...it's late...but he was sweet.
And Patti came out really late, she said she was in a rush but she signed and took pictures for the little of us. We actually had a car-screaming convo b/c I told her how I loved her comments about audience members and she made an "oh yeah" face at me and I told her about the post someone made here about someone in the audience getting a pizza delivered to them once. She just shook her head, and then I had to tell her about the ppl behind me who made me sit down right away when I stood up(HATE ppl like that). So yeah she screamed to me a bit from her car, and then we were done. But all in all, incredibly nice cast.
Sorry for the threadjack, but does anyone know when Patti and Michael's contracts are up? Are new players replacing anyone in the next few months?

If I bring my Evita CD for her to sign, will she get angry?
Thanks Yankee.
I was there last night at the Actor's Fund performance and stage door. As wickedrentq previously said, they were all dolls! Especially Diana, when I told her she was amazing and beautiful she was like "Oh thats very nice but those pictures of me..." I was like "omg you are beautiful". The cast is amazing. Donna, Manoel and Benjamin were all so nice. Everyone on my side of the barracades was also impressed with my silver sharpie (good minds think alike!) and we had a communal stage door thing going on. It was a great experience having only around 8 people waiting last night!
Def was Gypsy! Let's see...there were 3 ppl on your side of the barricade...for some reason doubting you were the kind Southern man who gave altoids...hmm...I'll PM my suspicion.
Communal stagedoors. Good term. Like I said, really glad the weather cooperated and such that it was fun and not at all uncomfy waiting for everyone.
