"Surely Sondheim has been asked this question before? Has he answered it?"

According to reports, last week in the interview he did with Sean Patrick Flahaven in Boston, he said that the show of which he was most proud was Assassins, that it did what he and John Weidman set out to do.

It is, in my mind, the best all-around show that he's worked on. His best score though? Not so sure about that...even though it's definitely in the top ten of the best scores of all time.

SITPWG is my favorite Sondheim, but I do consider Sweeney his best work. It's the most cohesive of his pieces, and the most strong from beginning to end.
