Has anyone heard any information about Sweeney Todd with Chuck Cooper and Lillias White?

I auditioned for this. I am not an Afro-American, but I was really interested in being in the chorus. There were only ten tracts in the chorus. The audition was a little odd. It was in a Gay Disco on 42nd St. I have never had an audition in a Gay Bar before, and I was a little leery. But it was actually a pretty good place to sing. I did not get cast.
I find Chuck Cooper's wording very interesting... "I simply assumed that all of the permissions to do Sweeney Todd had been obtained and granted by the producer of the event.".... what does "All the permissions" mean? Does it mean they didn't pay or ask for the rights to do it? Would they have had to get special permission if it was a Black cast? It sounds like stupid question, but his wording sounds equally as odd. Does anyone know who is replacing him?
I sure wish I had been cast. I would have loved to have been in this with Lilias White.

I doubt they'd have to get permission to do Sweeney Todd with a black cast. I'll bet Sondheim would champion the production. I'll bet it had more to do with properly obtaining the performance rights from Music Theatre International or there being an Actor's Equity issue.
Chuck Cooper. He was fantastic in The Life.
