Anyone heard anything more about the release date for this? Last I heard they were recording on Nov. 14th.

that was mentioned on another site. it's the same day as Color purple and see what i wanna see.
Do we know yet if it will only be selections, or the full score?
I will cry if it's just selections.
I heard it was just 1 disc. So yeah, just selections sadly.

It's just selections. I really really hate that, but at least they are recording it at all. I can't wait.
This saddens me.
*Banging head on keyboard*
Grr. Since it's just selections. I wish this would be the tracklisting.
The Ballad of Sweeney Todd
No Place like London
The Barber And His Wife
The Worst Pies In London
Poor Thing
My Friend
Green Finch and Linnet Bird
Johanna
Pirelli's Miracle Elixir/The Contest (I wish someone they could combine them)
Wait
Kiss Me
Pretty Women
Epiphany
A Little Priest
God, That's Good!
Johanna
By The Sea
Not While I'm Around
Final Sequence *
Ballad Of Sweeney Todd
I doubt even all those would fit on one 80 minute disc.
* I would REALLY want the FINAL SEQUENCE on the disc, but that would take so much time.
Well that was my dream tracklisting, since it has to be selections...
They have to record the Kiss Me/Ladies and Their Sensitivities Quartet. One of the most beautiful musical sequences ever!

But how can they make any cuts? None of the songs ever quite end in this production. They just lead into the next scene or song. Are they going to add endings to all the songs? I really was hoping for a recording of the whole show. Caroline or Change's cast recording was complete. I don't see why this one can't be complete. I'm also afraid that they'll cut "Parlour Songs" and the "Ladies and their Sensitivies/Kiss Me" sequence. I really love these orchestrations. I want to hear all of them. I'm sad now.
I really need to see this show again. Too bad I live in KY instead of NY.
I HOPE they record Green Finch and Linnet Bird... Lauren Molina singing that song NEEDS to be recording.
I adore her Johanna.

AW, how disappointing, usually nonesuch does such amazing recordings. They have full recordings of other shows. Ugh!
It seems weird to do a 1 disc version from a production that is all about the music.

It's all about cost folks. If anybody has an extra $50,000 or so they'd like to donate, I'm sure Nonesuch would be happy to make a double CD.
There are already two full length recordings readily available and two DVDs. Be VERY happy they're recording this one at all so soon after the concert version was released. This is a show with limited appeal (there's a reason Sweeney productions never turn a profit) and a limited budget. Nonesuch is an indie label and chances are they're going to lose money on this recording, so don't begrudge them trying to keep costs down so their loses won't be too high.

well maybe they could skimp on the fancy packaging and just do a double CD case like the RENT soundtrack. Though I'm not sure how much packaging actually costs.
That's what I thought. Nonesuch always creates such fancy and beautiful packages. Who cares about that? I rather have the music.
Trust me, I'm greatful we are getting another cast recording. If I want to hear the full score with the OBC score I'll listen to the OBC. But I want to hear the full score with THIS cast now. And I'm sad it wont all be recorded. Call me greedy, oh well - I don't care.

I wish they would release the CD they want/have planned, and then release the remainder of the music online, for us to purchase and burn onto disc ourselves!
Wouldn't that be a cost effective compromise/solution?
C'mon Nonesuch!

Well it's not like they have to pay an orchestra for the recording.

wow, i wanna see this a lot, but i hope my parents would like it
is there lots of cursing and "bad stuff"?
Not that much cursing. But it is violent, and there are a few adult themes (Judge & Johanna etc.) The show does get intense.

Well, the show is about putting people into pies...

okay, thanks, but to sum it all up- is RENT or SWEENEY better for a child audience?
