Worth buying or should I just stick with the original? Discuss . . .

I think it is definatly worth owning. The instrumentals themselves make this an almost completly different show to listen to.
Definitely worth buying. The orchestration is fantastic, the actors are great singers and musicians, and the cd comes with great packaging.
If you're doubtful, you can hear samples of the songs at Amazon.com

Absotively posolutely agree with the above.
just heard it on the train into manhattan this morning...it is fabulous and totally worth buying!
I've heard certain songs (don't remember which) on XM Broadway, and personally, I'd stick w/ the original. The orchestrations are too sparse for my taste.

That's the whole point, it is supposed to be different then what you are used to. While I love both CDs I have to say that the OBCR gives you a better idea of the show in general, but the Revival Recording captures some of the creepiness that this revival has. I don't know if I'd be a fan of the cd if I hadn't seen the show though, it is something you have to experience and the cd will always remind you of that powerful night, when you saw true, real, honest theatre on Broadway.

I VASTLY prefer the revival. It is so chilling....
It is most definetely worth having. Being familiar with the original makes this one so CHILLING. It's more about the words and the emotion than the orchestrations. The minimalist orchestration let the words and acting speak for themselves. The show itself is powerful enough that it doesn't need those huge orchestrations to keep it amazing.
Definetely worth having.

I think I'm the only one who feels that the only reason worth buying the revival recording is for the awesome booklet.
IF you don't have the OBC, get that first. It features more of the score, and is less confusing. If you love it after that, get the revival disc, which is also superb but more suited to Sweeney vets.
