I wonder why Patti LuPone's bio has nothing on there about Evita.

Seriously, the site is going to rock when it's finished!
At least a show worthy of a great website is getting one. I remember looking at the pre-updated site thinking "They need something edgy for 'Sweeney...'"
Yeah, in the PLAYBILL, it didnt say anything about Evita. It barely touched on her stage performances at all, honestly. Kinda odd...
My mom had seen Evita a while back with her and didnt remember so she was like going nuts and read the bio like 5 times trying to figure out "what she saw her in" until she asked me and I told her.
Being someone who loves reading the program bios of performers (even if I haven't actually SEEN their show), I've noticed that lately LuPone has been kind of glossing over her career highlights in her bios, like "yeah, I was the original Evita, so what." Perhaps she doesn't like being remembered specifically for one performance she gave over twenty years ago...
I don't begrudge Patti for focusing on the more present things; I'd imagine as an actor, you usually feel better about your talents and what you accomplished most recently than you were in the past, and might hold those credits closer to you. To contradict myself however, a bio should not feed an ego (not claiming I think she's doing that...), but rather share information with the audience. I would liked to have seen the credits that help make her "Patti LuPone" like Evita, Les Mis, etc. included but the artist has contol over the content so...........
I think LuPone is downplaying her "star" status as well, given that this is a very ensemble production. I find her humility in her bio to be kind of refreshing. What's it they tell actors? Only include things on your resume that you've done in the last ten years?
Usually the actors write their own bio right? Well from what I've learned, Patti LuPone didn't even want to be in Evita. She only auditioned because her current boyfriend suggested her to and because she wanted to see if she could strengthen her relationship with Hal Prince. She didn't want the role of Evita, and once she got it, she cried her eyes out because she knew she couldn't play Ruth in "The Woods" by David Mamet, which was her ideal role at the time. I think she also may have signed a contract before auditioning that if she should get the part then she had to take it, because I don't think she thought she would get it.
So yeah, she also said she never wanted to work with Andrew Loyd Weber again. Maybe she didn't want to put Evita in her bio because it's a bitter memory of hers, which is kind of ironic because she gained such recognition from that role.
I'm confused with Patti LuPone's feelings with her work. I'm not sure what shows she enjoyed performing in and what she didn't. Also if she was that violently opposed to Evita, she should have just performed it horribly causing them to fire her.
it depends on the actor, whether or not they write their own bio. Some do, some have their agent do it..... sometimes the press agent does it (personally, I wrote several last year working for a press agent). More often than not, the actors write them.

That intro is amazing! The "having no music, just stark photos from the show" really makes it powerful. It will be very interesting to see this site develop further! Thanks for the notice, aspiringguy! :)
