Posted: 3/13/06 at 3:37pmI think they only sell these if the show is sold out. I was there this past sunday and I didn't see anyone in the SRO spots.

SRO is only if it's sold out. Rush is different.
I'm debating trying to rush on a Friday, but there's that weird rule about it only being Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. On one hand, it doesn't seem like they hold to that, but on the other I don't want to risk it.

She was asking about rush tickets, though.
ETA: Oh, that's right, they don't do rush on Sundays. Like emcee said, I don't know how strictly they adhere to that. I think that's such a weird rule.

Oh ok. I didn't realize that they had both. Carry on then. . .
#6re: Sweeney Todd rush question
Posted: 3/13/06 at 3:46pmI've heard they don't adhere to it, but I'm not sure I'd want to chance it...

Just do partial view...or is that rush?
It's 30..something. Pretty good seats (close) depending. Of course, you could get stuck in a corner...

Posted: 3/13/06 at 3:59pmI don't know if Sweeney specifically sells partial view, I think it's just that sometimes their rush tickets are partial view.

No, they do.
I went in and asked if the mezz was sold out. They said yes. So I asked for a partial view seat...$35. I had a great seat, too.

What's the deal with the partial view? Do they sell them at that price whenever or just the day of? I went in December, but they were temporarily doing away with the $30-whatever seats until after the holidays.
My mom is coming to town this weekend and we were going to try to see Sweeney Saturday evening, but the rear mezz appears to be sold out and it says online that they only have rush Tues-Thurs, so I was wondering if this might be another viable $30 option.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 4:12pmReally? That's excellent. Is that for all performances? I was going to go next Saturday and see if they had SRO, but if I can get partial view instead, I'm all for it.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 4:27pmThe mezz wasn't even close to sold out when I saw the show on Tuesday, so if nothing else you can see it from there. The last few rows are $35, and we ended up being able to move up a few rows.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 4:28pmI think it's all subject to availability, but the "partial view" seats are side front orchestra. Your lateral view is just like... mildly obstructed.

Partial view aren't bad at all. Especially if you've already seen the show.
They don't adhere to the rush policy at the box office. I've always been sold rush tickets, even on Sundays. Might be cause they know me there, but I think they'll sell 'em to anyone.

You guys know the doorway next to the shelves on stage?
Is that blocked in partial view seating with the right orch seatings?
I couldn't see the doorway in the box seats, and if I see the show again in partial view, I don't want to miss that part of the stage again.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 5:01pmI don't think they have a "day of rush." When I went, the "rush" was 36.25 and you could buy them in advance. It may have changed.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 5:05pmThere are like three different things going on. They have advanced tickets for $36.25 in the rear mezz (and possibly the obstructed view orch seats, too). Rush is generally in the same location. SRO speaks for itself.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 5:11pmI would assume SRO is available if the show is sold out, regardless of the day.

ljay - it depends where you sit.
I was on the left. I was at a height where a speaker blocked the back corner of the stage - right where Anthony's face is for Johanna (and where Fogg stands for his little monologue).
But that was OK - and about it.
I had a clear shot of the door.

The Sweeney BO is sort of strange, I feel like it's intentionally trying to confuse me sometimes.
I've paid $36 for partial view, and I've also paid $51 for the same seats. I tried my luck with student rush this past Saturday matinee and they wouldn't sell me a ticket. I did rush on a weekday once and got great orchestra seats.
As for partial view, my experience is that house left is much less obstructed than house right.
Left: You miss Anthony during "No Place Like London" and half of his "Johanna". A tiny bit of "Ephiphany" is obstructed.
Right: I actually could not see anyone who was sitting upstage. Imagine my surprise when John Arbo (Fogg) came forward and I realized there was an extra person. And of course, the door is blocked. But, if you're planning on stage dooring (or just want to get out of the theatre quickly), the exits are right next to you.

Just picturing the theatre in my mind, I can see how partial view right would be worse.
And yeah, the Sweeney box office is really weird. I feel like they have the most random and arbitrary rules.
Oh, well. I'll see what happens on Saturday.
