Sweeney on Fleet Street - Aug 21 - Who's Going
re: Sweeney on Fleet Street - Aug 21 - Who's Going#25
Posted: 8/20/06 at 10:34pmI hope that's not the case--I'll be coming straight from work and traffic into the Lincoln Tunnel at that hour is beyond awful, so I won't even get into the City until after 7--I definitely won't have alot of time to run around trying to look for the tickets.

Posted: 8/20/06 at 10:36pmWell in any case, I'll be heading over to the Mercury Lounge before 7. I figure the worse that can happen is that they send me over to the Bowery.

The order confirmation says nothing directly about the Bowery Ballroom. It says:
FOR ALL WILL-CALL ( HOLD AT VENUE BOX OFFICE ) TICKETS:
You must present the original credit card used to make this
purchase at the venue's box-office or point of entry up to
one hour prior to the event or after the doors open (unless
otherwise noted) in order to pick up your ticket(s).
So....at the venue box office (which is at the Mercury Lounge, no?) OR at the point of entry. So which one is it?

I plan on calling the Mercury Lounge tomorrow when I get in.
Does anyone know what time the show actually starts? I know it says doors at 8pm, but that can mean show at 10pm or show at 8:30pm...

Regarding tickets, from one of the coordinators of the concert:
" I think if you bought them online you pick them up at the door on the way in with the CC you used to buy them. If you went to the mercury lounge to buy them w/cash they either gave you the ticket or put your name on the ticket list that will be at the door."
So it sounds like you guys should be picking them up at bowery, but it couldn't hurt for someone to call tomorrow to make sure.

Wanted to pimp this:
The merchandise stand will also be selling some really gorgeous posters Lauren Molina had made of one of her original designs:
It looks even BETTER on the print than it does in this image.
The prints are extremely limited (and there are a few signed by Patti Lupone and Michael Cerveris).
Lauren still wasn't sure about the price, but she told me she's donating some of the proceeds to BC/EFA.
So, yeah, pick one up. They're gorgeous. :)

I would really love to get one, if I can afford it.

Posted: 8/21/06 at 2:42amI would pay a lot to have that poster.

Posted: 8/21/06 at 9:00amI am so psyched about the merchandise selection and of course, the performances. This is going to be one amazing night!

Surprised this hasn't been bumped by now. So...what'd people think? Although *ridiculously* long, I thought it was an amazing night, and a nice 'last hurrah' for the Sweeney cast to get to do something all together.

Heh, I just posted on the OT board that I'm surprised no one posted about this on the main board.
I agree; it was a great night. I adored the numbers that almost everyone played in, and the ones that really turned some of the classical instruments into rock.
It raised $6,000 for BCEFA, which is great because...there was no place in the show for the cast to make the BCEFA speech. John Doyle wrote a huge apologetic letter to BCEFA about it, but I think everyone at Sweeney was glad they could do this to help make up for that.

I didn't think it was long at all! (Joking...obviously. Haha).
I thought it was incredibly fun and I had a fanatastic time.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 1:29pmSurprised it wasn't bumped earlier today myself. It was a great night - and it even started a bit earlier than anticipated (8:45 instead of 9P). Lots of fun people watching too. Patti LuPone was there for a bit.

I thought it was great, even if it was a bit long. Actually, I don't think it was so much the actual length of the show as the fact that it didn't start until 9ish (or was it more like quarter of?). I had a train to catch at 1, so I missed the last song. I could hear Michael calling Lauren up (I'm guessing they did Crosshill with her on cello??).
Overall, I thought everyone did a FABULOUS job! I especially loved the few songs where everyone really came together. Kind of epic.
If anyone recorded it, could you drop me a PM? You'd think (other than covers, where I'd imagine rights would get a little sticky) when they do benefit performances like this they'd try to make a recording to sell towards BCEFA. I'm sure it's more complicated than I realize, but even if it was something mid-range in quality, I think most people would gladly pay $15-20 a CD of highlights with the money going to Broadway Cares.

Posted: 8/22/06 at 1:51pmEnjoyed it. Loved Cerveris and Nelly McKay's duet. Loved Duncan Sheik's performance. Donna Lynn was the highlight of the night. I left at around Midnight.

I thought it was a great night, though by 12:15 or so I had to leave. (It started around 8:45.) I particularly enjoyed Donna Lynn's rendition of God's Song (which I bought on iTunes this morning before I realized I think I have the cd it is on...duh...), Mano's songs and Cerveris's set. It was also interesting to hear the Spring Awakening songs sung by Duncan Sheik and Michael. (Though I wish they'd done my favorite SA song, The Bitch of Living...)
Thanks and congrats to everyone who put the evening together for such a worthy cause...well done.

Donna Lynn was indeed HILARIOUS, Moxie.
And interesting, Fantab. I'd almost tend to think that it was probably for archiving purposes though, if someone was videotaping. But what do I know? There are certainly some ballsy people out there. I still don't understand how people video stuff and get away with it. *shrug*
