Thanks!
Just in case people were wondering, it wasn't very crowded- maybe 40 people at most.
Yay! Congratulations! That's exciting.
Just got home, such a great showing!
Anthony, Adam, Wilson, and Tracie (Jesse wasn't there) were great as always! I liked the dessert with penis comment...
Please elaborate liotte...I'm facinated.
the last question was for Anthony and it was "If I win dinner with you, what do you like for dessert?" or something like that. Anthony started talking about he's boring and he likes sorbet or his vegan cobbler that he makes and then Adam says "he likes it with a penis". Anthony looked a tad uncomfortable and Wilson literally fell out of his chair onto the floor.
HA! I literally laughed out loud when I read that.
Some of the questions were:
What would Jonathan think of the movie?
What would Jonathan have done differently?
There was an auction for a dinner with Anthony, so someone asked if they won, what would he like for dessert? He replied that he likes sorbet, he's plain and boring. And Adam added that he liked his sorbet with a penis. Quite funny!
They all talked about how they felt making the movie, the guys all discussed what they remembered about Jonathan, and about the show back when it started, etc.
Tracie was asked if she felt welcomed, and about how she and Rosario were such fangirls, and they were waiting for the OBC people to haze them.
Someone also asked why they hadn't moved on from their roles, and Adam quickly pointed out that they actually had done other projects.
Adam and Anthony were asked which do they prefer, acting in a show, movies, or performing their own music? And they gave very PC answers about liking them all. But Anthony says he loves doing live theater (and the rock aspects of Rent and Hedwig are like doing rock albums), and Adam said his highlights were the rent movie and Caberet.
I'm trying to think of more questions that were asked...
Hrm, I don't think I can accommodate for Adam's suggestion. *le sigh*
someone asked adam what it was like for him to watch the movie the first time from beginning to end and he was like "do you have 2 hours and 15 minutes?" He then went on to talk about how the first time he saw it it was more like remembering that day on set or what it was like to film it, so he couldn't watch it as movie-goer. He also said that the first time all he could do was watch himself, even in scenes where he wasn't prominent...he was just always watching himself. He also later sarcastically (I hope) referred to himself as a sour prick.
*now I know why they don't let Adam do much publicity*
*golf claps* Why is Tracie gaping?
You are so much more on top of the picture thing than me, I haven't even put mine on the computer yet!
But as you were sitting next to me, I'm sure our pics are pretty much the same!
Adam's honest like that. That's why he kind of... yeah. At publicity. XD
And Adam added that he liked his sorbet with a penis.
Yeah, that basically made my night.
LOL, was Anthony really uncomfortable or something?
Can I just say that I love the way Anthony sits. He always seems so casual. He seems to like putting his feet up; I'm glad he feels comfortable.
That sounds hilarious!
What were the reactions to the movie, from the audience?
Lots of cheering, clapping after songs (esp La Vie Boheme and Take Me or Leave Me), too much singing along though! Big cheers at the end throughout the entire credits, standing ovation when the cast came out.
Any mooing?
How long did the Q&A last?
And just because I'm still really amused by the sorbet penis comment, how did Anthony react when Adam said that?
as liotte said, cheering and applauding after certain parts, lots of applause and standing ovation for when anthony came out at the end and then again when the entire cast came out and then again when they finished up. There were lots of little funny moments during the Q&A, at one silent moment I think Anthony just started saying "good times good times" and then they all kinda started saying it and then wilson started snapping. I would love to put the 8 of them in a room together and see what would happen.
Anthony, Adam, and Wilson commented about really specific memories of Jonathan, which was nice to hear. If you wanna know what they were, I'll type 'em out.
No mooing (thank goodness)
I think the Q&A was around 35-40 minutes
Also, tickets and auction $$$ raised around $45,000 for Friends in Deed, which I think they said was there biggest fundraising event.
About Adam's comment, I don't even remember Anthony's reaction because everyone was so shocked/laughing and then Wilson on the floor just added to it. I think maybe Tracie might have said something like "ooooo Anthony's mad" - but I'm not sure
Oooh, yes! Stories about Jonathan, please.
If it's not too much trouble.
ummm, Anthony talked about knowing him a little more than the rest of the cast since he was with rent longer than them. he had a friend named christina or something and she was at a birthday party for anthony that jonathan was at. as anthony put it, jonathan was "crushing" on her. at this party, someone asked jonathan what he did for a living and he said something to the effect of "I'm the future of musical theater" and everyone thought he was nuts. so one of the last one on one conversations anthony had with jonathan was jonathan telling anthony he had a crush on the girl and he didn't know what to do about it. jonathan never really got around to telling her how he felt, but, anthony said he later found out that the girl kinda knew it all along.
adam said he clearly remembered a lunch he had with anthony, daphne, and jonathan. this was during the winter of 95-96 with all the crazy nyc blizzards so everytime they left the theater, it would be snowing. so coming back from lunch, they walked through tompkins square park, and they had a snowball fight.
