Awww, yay. Thanks!
ummm, Anthony talked about knowing him a little more than the rest of the cast since he was with rent longer than them. he had a friend named christina or something and she was at a birthday party for anthony that jonathan was at. as anthony put it, jonathan was "crushing" on her. at this party, someone asked jonathan what he did for a living and he said something to the effect of "I'm the future of musical theater" and everyone thought he was nuts. so one of the last one on one conversations anthony had with jonathan was jonathan telling anthony he had a crush on the girl and he didn't know what to do about it. jonathan never really got around to telling her how he felt, but, anthony said he later found out that the girl kinda knew it all along.
adam said he clearly remembered a lunch he had with anthony, daphne, and jonathan. this was during the winter of 95-96 with all the crazy nyc blizzards so everytime they left the theater, it would be snowing. so coming back from lunch, they walked through tompkins square park, and they had a snowball fight.
This is in Anthony's book in great detail.
Uhg, I want to read that book so damn bad Lari! Damn you!
I'm more than halfway through. Lemme finish and review.

Honestly Lari, you're just BEGGING to be stalked!
I think Anthony is such an eloquent writer and speaker - I can't wait for the book.
adam also called himself a "sour prick"
he kinda made a fool out of himself in my mind - but ya gotta love him
the movie was phenomenal!!! there were a couple of weird editing glitches i thought but it was great - i totally got so lost in it i started clapping after la vie boheme and everybody just joined right in! haha - it was sooooo wonderful - well worth the wait
by the way - anybody know what happened to jesse? - i mean the chair and mike were there for him- why didn't he show?
maybe last minute law and order?
I thought they could have at least addressed it - there was an empty chair and all

Hey! I went tonight...I was in the 6th row (row F) center....I wasn't sure I'd be going tonight, because I've had a pretty crazy weekend here at home, but I'm so glad that I did. I met Anthony!!!! And Adam and Tracey....and then Justin again (current Angel on Broadway) in the lobby....but yayyyyyyyyyyyyy for finally meeting Anthony. A few weeks ago I was just hoping like crazy that I'd get to. He was as sweet as could be...all of them were. And yes the penis comment was hilarious. Anthony did look a little embarassed haha. :o)
<3
The movie was great, but I don't know...I think the musical, as simplistic as it is, is better. Just my opinion.

What a great night! I'm so glad my first viewing was at this event. I loved the movie and enjoyed every minute.
I get the feeling some of you don't quite get Adam's sardonic sense of humor, though. The "sour prick" line, for instance - before that, Anthony had talked about liking the feeling that he was in a rock band when he was performing, and Adam interjected that he had soured on rock bands long ago. Anthony replied that Adam was "a darker soul." Later, when Anthony was talking about getting the initial call for the movie and worrying about whether Adam would want to do it or not, Adam came back with the "I'm a sour prick" line. He was (I think) referring back to and exagerrating their contrasting personalities and making fun of his reputation in some circles.
Well, I think I've totally killed the joke with all the explanation, but I had to get that out.
Another funny moment was referred to already, when Adam said that at first all he could see was himself on screen. Anthony then asked if Adam wanted to ask himself out, which broke him up. HIs reply was "God, I'm a handsome man." Again, I think that was total sarcasm, but some people probably took him seriously.
Sooo much fun.
I reacted to the movie a bit differently this time; most noticably, I wasn't nervous enough to be sick. I just sat back, relaxed and loved it this time. I cried at different points than I did the first time... at random points, too. Like during Another Day, and I'll Cover You. For some reason, lately, every time I listen to Rent and I hear the line "give in to love, or live in fear," or even just "no day but today," I lose it.
Adam has a dirty sense of humor and I LOVE IT. (I think if you heard the tone when he said he was handsome, you couldn't miss the sarcasm, but if you read it in text, it can *easily* be misinterpreted.)

I'm sorry, after seeing those pictures I really need to ask the people who were there:
Is Adam wearing a suit? And if he is, please tell me he's not wearing white athletic socks with said suit. Please tell me he's wearing really casual pants. Please.
No, it wasn't really a suit. And no, his socks did NOT go with his outfit.
He looked FANTASTIC, IMO. I really liked his shirt.
Adam's lack of fashion sense is a favorite topic with some of us... But aside from the socks he did look terrific. I think he was wearing black jeans and jeans jacket, but I can't be sure.
His jacket was some really cool, oddly soft material. I liked it!
Really wishing I could have come home a day early...
Well have been spending the last couple of hours catching up on professional Rent reviews, finally came over to this thread.
Compared to what I have been hearing about other Rent movie audiences, this one was pretty tame, some applause during the very "theatrical" numbers like Today 4 U and La Vie Boheme, the girl next to me sometimes annoyingly whispered along songs, and I did not hear anyone mooing. The audience was mainly quiet, w/ the exception of coughing, so I'm sure it certainly was one of the better audiences.
I mean I don't think I can add much to the reviews...loved the movie, thought the first 2/3 were perfections, was a little disappointed in some of the last 1/3 but I'm sure this has been discussed quite a bit, no need to add.
Adam was just really funny tonight. I agree if you don't know much about him or are reading this you don't get the humor, but it really was intended as so. I mean, I think Adam being a bit of a "diva" has become a bit of an inside joke, like ppl here we tease about their "egos"? So I thought all those comments were funny, and you could see the closeness in Adam & Anthony in the banter.
I too was more focused on the actual comment and Wilson on the floor, but I think Anthony got pretty quiet and a tad red. Then I just remember Tracie saying something like oh don't worry Anthony I do too.
Oh and finally something not mentioned, not sure if I got this exactly right, sure someone could help me out, but Wilson's Jonathan story was excluded: one day Wilson was wearing a coat when Jonathan saw him, I wanna say the coat was special or Jonathan liked the coat, or I don't remember. I think Jonathan said something about the coat which lead Wilson to burst into "But they purloined my coat, well you missed a sleeve..." And Jonathan shook his head and said something like "Wilson...off-key." So Wilson ended by saying though Jonathan was great and really nice, he was also very picky.
The cast was also great about greeting fans after and only left when forced to by symphony space. Adam stayed the longest, probably also for a certain fan intending on getting a perfect picture
Great night, so glad I got to experience it this way.
Shush!
I'm actually beginning to think that Adam's eyes have trouble with the flash on my camera, or something. I'm looking through my harddrive, and I realize that since I bought my digital camera, I have not *one* photo of him with his eyes fully opened.
That's weird.
I can't believe I'm gonna hafta say this but next time...(if there is another next time...don't wanna say that!) you should use someone else's camera.
Also just remembered Adam's analogy to the Haggadah. We would have been grateful and content...that loud laugh from the left side for once was me, not the screamer next to me.

Finally back and have computer access! Just posting a few things, nothing too detailed yet. The whole night was so surreal, I'm still pinching myself.
There were so many people in the audience that I wasn't expecting to see, but it made sense for them being there. Justin Johnston and Antonique Smith were both there (maybe more, I really only recogized him because I saw them later). I kind of noticed where they were sitting and there was a lot of cheering from their direction when Shaun Earl came on, which was cute. The first person I really recognized though was Al Larson. Then Raúl Esparza had to literally be pointed out to me because I'm blond like that.
Rodney is totally my favorite person ever! I would just like to establish that.
I met "And Date, Wilson's significant other" when Rodney introduced us. She's very nice, she worked on the movie...some abbreviated title I can't remember and told WickedRentQ and me about working on the set.
dmb, I was sitting next to you! I was in F110. I wish I had known you posted here, that would have made for a much better conversation!
liotte, I saw you win the lotto. I was with angelic1 (who also won, yay!) and I already had my ticket, but it was nice to put a face to a sn.
Emcee, I think it is your flash. His eyes were normal when it first started to take the pictures, but then the final product was squinty. You take a picture of him outside on a nice day where you don't need the flash just to test it or something.
I am so happy that my first experience with this film was at this particular screening. I am literally bouncing off to work this morning!
jeff marx who wrore ave q was there too
and so were jonathan larson's parents
I see Jeff Marx EVERYWHERE.
