#1TDF Question-- Using Someone Else's Ticket
Posted: 4/15/07 at 4:38pm

Question--- I had an extra ticket for "LoveMusik" (today's mat) that I couldnt use, so I send my TDF confirmation to someone else, for them to use the ticket.

Apparantely, the box office would not release the ticket to them.

According to the TDF website, anyone else can use the ticket, provided that they have a printout of the confirmation page, and something in writing from the purchaser/member, that provides authorization that the ticket will be picked up by another person.

Could this be a specific theatre/box office problem?

I have never had this problem before with the TDF ticket.

I would like to call the box office to hear their reply, but would like to hear other opinions and/or personal experiences.

TIA !

The box office at the Biltmore is the ONLY box office that requires an ID for TDF tickets, and I don't know why. I let my friend use my TDF ticket for Losing Louie a while back, and they wouldn't release it to her either, even though she had the printout. I went to the box office personally the next day, spoke to the person in charge, and they gave her a free ticket.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I called them before I left for "TCP", and asked to speak with a manager. They should really adhere to TDF's rules, which I believe only require a written OK from the purchaser, as well as a copy of the confirmation. (both of which I provided)

They told me to call back in the A.M- Maybe they will be able to give me a credit or a ticket to another performance.

I have never had this problem with any other theater using a TDF ticket.

I've done that before. I gave the person a printout of the confirmation e-mail and a signed letter requesting they release the ticket to the other person. When she got to the box office they just gave her the ticket. They didn't even look at the papers.

This is from the FAQ's on the TDF website:

"Can a friend or family member pick up my e-tix?
If you have purchased e-tix with your credit card and you wish to have someone else collect the ticket(s) at the box office, write a letter indicating the name of the person who will be collecting the ticket(s). All he/she needs to have is the printed confirmation sheet of the performance in question and the letter. They should present them to the box office 30 minutes prior to performance. Make sure he/she accurately requests the tickets under the proper name for which they were ordered. "

Same here, Court.... NEVER had a problem, except for today... and of course, it happens on the day of a monsoon !!!

I felt bad that it happened.... I am going to contact TDF as well. Maybe they need to call the Biltmore mangt.

Me too, but I think its a long-term problem as well- If the Biltmore is going to have shows that there are TDF tickets for (which they obviously do), they really should adhere to TDF's rules.

Thanks for your replies !!! Greatly appreciated !

I was shocked when the Biltmore asked for an ID or confirmation.. that was the first time it ever happened to me as well.

Especially on a day like yesterday !!

They could have relaxed their stupid rule a little bit, if nothing else, to fill seats !!

Disney theaters also ask for ID. When I bought a ticket for Beauty and the Beast, it specifically said on the TDF page that an ID was required to pick up the ticket and the tickets may only be picked up by the purchaser. The same warning should've been on the LoveMusik page...
