I'm surprised about their set. It's just a huge screen, right? How come that didn't work with "The Happy Time" several...well, almost 40 years back? Oh well, that's technology advancement for ya.

The WIW screen is a concave structure on which the sets are reflected - it moves when the scene changes ( sometimes together with the revolving stage) or when a zoom is made to highlight some aspects of the scenery. There are some very spectacular aspects that the sets capture - the change to the countryside, the details of the manor house, even the sound of the waterfalls as the scene evolves, and the inside and outside perspective of the church.

I have just listened to the Michael Ball interview on AMERICAN THEATRE WING online radio and he speaks of how challenging it is for the actors to relate to the sets ( including going in and out of doors).

Ergh, no Doubt or Piazza. No one seems to get real theatre anymore. Head, meet desk.

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

WIW over Sweeney AND Piazza? Well now I know to write off the Times when ever it comes to them reviewing theatre.

There seems to be a lot of crack use over there at TIME this year.

That's always so dissapointing, when people write the wrong titles, or say people's names wrong! I HATE that! I think it's a very random list.
