I was there and it was absolutely wonderful. I've loved the score since high school and it was so nice to finally hear it live (we're not counting that horrible NYSEC benefit concert from a few years back...they hired Broadway talent and the sound was so bad it was impossible to hear them, ugh), especially with so many members of the original cast. I'd still like to see a Broadway revival of this in the near future, perhaps with a revised book. I think the biggest problem with the book is that we spend so little time with each character that it's hard to really get to know them before the boat starts to sink. The score is so gorgeous it deserves a full-scale revival, though..."The Proposal/The Night Was Alive" is one of my favorite songs ever, and it was sung beautifully by Brian d'Arcy James and Martin Moran tonight.

I hope Manhattan Concert Productions continues with these huge concerts in the future, they've had huge successes with both this and Ragtime and I'd love to see more from them.

I was there tonight as well and it really was a stunning evening. Hearing that score played on that orchestra and with that large an ensemble was more than I could ask for.

Despite a few mic problems, the score continues to give me chills 17 years later. What a glorious evening.

A night to remember! Considering the limited time and the large cast, the lack of any real problems except a rare microphone being turned on a bit late was remarkable. The cast, especially those from the OBC, was splendid. John Cunningham is finally showing some frailty after performing leads on Broadway for half a century, but he's still in command. Manhattan Concert Productions, like last yr with Ragtime, picked a show that merits the full orchestral and choral treatment and did it proud. It definitely shivered my timbers.

I'm so glad I made the trip up from DC to see this. Glorious was the first adjective that came to mind, especially after the opening number. And how the memories of the original production came flooding back. I saw it the night before it won the Tony for best musical, and how thrilling it was to hear the audience cheering after one of the best opening numbers I had ever seen (that was before Ragtime opened).

Not sure why the chose to splice in the finale at the end of the clip instead of going with the complete opening.

That was the opening. In the finale, the cast faced upstage at the final chord.

After the camera panned from the chorus back to the Titanic cast, it looks like some of them have Carpathia blankets on.

Dottie is 100% correct- when the cast is shown during the final measures of the song, they are wearing Carpathia blankets.

I saw the concert last night and I am so grateful to have this video to relive it again.!!! Such an incredible, amazing night!

I love this show. And so wish I had seen the tour when I was in 7th grade when it came to town. I'm obsessed. Sorry I missed this. I really can't wait for it to come to Broadway.

I stand corrected, Dottie. I watched again and it is strange that they cut so close to the end. That is probably why I didn't focus on the change so late in the clip. Apologies.

I just saw on their IBDB page that the Kennedy Center was one of the producers of the original Broadway production, yet, when the tour played DC in 1999, I believe it was presented at the National Theatre.

I kept getting chills when that choir would join in... 250 members?! WOW. I wish they would release the whole recording-- I'd definitely watch/buy it.

I also loved it, when they were loading the third class passengers, they had some of the front row choristers waving tickets, too!

The young man stage right playing the Bellboy was actually welcoming the passengers by name - but I thought he was charming.

Never understood why they had a grown woman playing the Bellboy in the original. In the two other large replica (Holland and Germany) and non replica productions they used a young man (who could pass as a boy).
